July 7, 20178 yr noticed (well since I owned PMDG products, very long time ago till now) when sitting in cockpit you only see cockpit shadows outside, is that by design or did I miss something in FSX / -SE, P3D V3/4 settings? I don't know how to insert a picture in here to illustrate my point? I hope this will work, Ali A. July 7, 20178 yr This has been fixed in the 747 by adding a low definition model of the body of the aircraft to the virtual cockpit , possibly it will be addressed in future updates for the 777 and the NGX. If you own the QOTSII you can already see that you have full shadow from the flight deck. It has to do with a limitation in P3d. Sander Rutte

I think it was because P3D needs a model to cast shadows, and in the VC there is only a model of the VC (which is what you're seeing), there is no body, wings, engines etc. This was done to save poly's and save VAS/performance. As you pointed out, a low poly model was added to the 747 so the shadows would display correctly. Cheers, Chris Brand
