July 31, 20178 yr Many programs nowadays require internet for activation at some point and I've noticed that I keep getting errors that amount to what I think is: "We can't connect to the internet to activate such and such." I am working on a new install of Windows 10, I am currently typing this forum post while on this PC, so that I am obviously connected to the internet. So my question is, is there some setting in Windows 10 that might be preventing the online activation from working?
August 1, 20178 yr More likely your AV or browser problem blocking , not windows 10. Ray Fry. Raymond Fry.
August 1, 20178 yr Author I found out that one of the things problems was that in it's infinite wisdom Windows 10 decided to rename my machine on an install.
September 2, 20178 yr Yup, you used to be able to name your PC as part of the install. Now they just assign you a number. But, as always, you can change it. I don't think the name of your PC affects anything, except your being able to find it from another PC if you don't know what the name is. Registration doesn't care. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
