You can't start this plane with Control+E. It's a very complex simulation of the real thing. Read the manuals and tutorial to find out how to start it.

As Hamoody said, you need to read the manuals - I urge you to read the introductory manual and do Tutorial 1.  This aircraft works much more realistically than a default aircraft.  The engine start procedure is not all that complex, but Ctrl-E won't do it.

My question is why would you spend $90 or $135 on a study level simulation just to try to start the engines via C+E where you could have just used a freeware 777 if you didn't want to learn how how to start it correctly? For the sake of solving your problem, you'll need some sort of bleed air (APU or Ground Air) to start the engines. Assuming you have one of them, there's a start switch on the middle of the overhead panel. One for each engine. Simply turn the switch to "start" then switch the fuel selector for the desired engine to the upper position and your engine will start to spool up. Repeat for the second and you have just stated the engines on a 777. Albeit, you really need to read the manuals and do the tutorial to learn proper procedures as what I have outlined is a VERY basic way to start the engines. Best of luck to you as you learn to fly the magnificent beast that is the 777.

Thanks for your answers.  The sole reason I  was asking was because a "tip" appeared inj the upper left portion of my screen with directions on Cntr+E

That's FSX telling you the default function for a default plane. You can safely turn those off. They probably won't be helpful at all in our aircraft. They'd also bother you all day to "Press B to reset your altimeter" over in Europe for flying on STD at 6000 (or so, depending on where you are) and above.
