March 7, 200521 yr Hi,Have been wondering why new commercial aircraft still has No Smoking signs and ashtrays installed?Isn Staffan
March 7, 200521 yr That's so there's a proper place to put their cigarrete out, should someone light one.
March 7, 200521 yr Simple,Whether they are owned by the airline, or leased to that airline, once they are done with it, the aircraft will be shipped as a cattle hauler (people hauler) to the Mideast or Asia, or some other part of the world where they simply are not interested in preventing cancer, nor do they care about other passengers who don't smoke. :-)Hope that clears up your question.Regards,Joe****************Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a] CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
March 8, 200521 yr no, it's the first customer or lease company who orders (or not) ashtrays. It's all about resale value. If an aircraft with ashtrays costs $150000 (for example, it's probably less) more than one without but sells for half a million more after 10 years, why not put them in?
March 8, 200521 yr Embraer 170s are shipping without ashtrays and smoking signs replaced with portable electronic devices signs. How long did it take Boeing to finally get rid of eyebrow windows meant for celestial navigation?
March 8, 200521 yr Is that what the windows are for or was it to be able to see while in a turn? I thought the old navigator and his bubble dome were used to site the stars.Terry
