Strange a/c crasch using Project Canarias 2006

Featured Replies

Hi,Downloaded Project Canarias 2006 and it looks very nice indeed but had one strange problem after my first test flight yesterday...I took off from Tenerife and landed at La Palma and touch-down went fine but when reaching the end of the rwy to turn around and backtrack my a/c all of a sudden just dropped through the ground and FS9 gave me the familiar 'Crasch detected' message and the flight was reset.Anyone else seen this or have an idea what the problem might be?Thanks in advance and BIG thanks to the guys creating this visually stunning package!!

Others have been having this problem...are you using any addon mesh?

Yes, I'm using lots of addon mesh most freeware here from the AVSIM library...anyone found the culprit? Did a search here in the forum but couldn't find anything about it.

As a follow-up I now tried to disable all other addon mesh and sceneries except the FS default ones and I still have the same problem so it seems to be something else causing this behaviour. Also noticed that if you start a flight at La Palma rwy 19, the a/c is not lined up correctly as seen in this picture that I was able to take just before my a/c "sinked" through the ground. My guess is that it's only the "turning zone" at the end of the rwy that is the problem because until you get there everything is just fine.Remember reading many month ago that people flying PMDG's 747 got a problem where they crached at touch-down on some airports, wonder if this could be a similar problem...even though I doubt that since I also tried starting from rwy 19 at La Palma using the default Cessna a/c with the same result as you can see below.Really hope someone finds the culprit becuase I want this nice looking scenery to work :-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144276.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144277.jpg

And yet another follow-up...this picture taken from "below" rwy 01 at La Palma...notice how both the end of rwy 01 as well as the green fence are both "hanging" in the air and I can only think of what would happen if I rolled out on that hanging rwy edge with an a/c...;-)Seems like there's something very wrong here...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144279.jpg

I just encountered the same problem. It's definately the turning bay area. I landed at RW01 taxied until the end of the runway with the intention to use the turning bay and when I reached it the Aircraft fell through the ground.

Got a reply from the author that they are aware of this problem and will hopefully have a fix for it coming up this weekend.

Any more news on this fix?Bruceb

Haven't heard anything more about this fix and have uninstalled the scenery for the time beeing until a fix for this problem is available.

Thanks. Great mesh/texture addon but unfortunately it is incompatible with 3D scenery from other Canaries scennery I have which means it looks a bit bare around the major airports and towns compared to what I have come to expect when flying in the Canaries. Bruceb
