P3D V3.4 & 4.1 Friction Changes

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow captains:

It's been a while since I visited P3D, and there were some major updates (i.e. V3.4 and its hotfixes). After I installed the lastest version of V3, I noticed that the dynamicfriction.lua stopped working. FSUIPC is confirmed to be working properly and can access SIM1 Friction Table. There are sources pointing to a change of the friction table, but no one has confirmed the fact. If there are changes, it's not detectable from using the simulator itself. So is there anyone who has insight into dynamicfriction and friction tables who can point out what exactly changed in the friction table that rendered the dynamicfrictions.lua file essentially useless?

Just to clarify, you are using the registered version of FSUIPC?

Yes. I already checked, I have everything setup correctly, the log is correct. This exact config worked before with the same addons before I left P3D. I searched up my issue where a registered FSUIPC running lua files properly is not working with dynamicfriction, and all the threads point to the changes to P3D V3 frictions the same way it's changed in V4.

Has anyone worked out where the offsets would be for ground and braking friction in the new P3Dv4.1 update?

I modified my sim1.dll in P3Dv4 hotfix 1 and this is holding me back from updating. I have read that the offsets change every update.

Thanks

if he doesn't chime in here, you might ask in Pete Dowson's FSUIPC forum.

Vic I was looking for my topic everywhere and noticed it got amalgamated in this one. With all do respect my question relates to P3Dv4.1 not 3.4 and as such the following information I have will only apply to v4.1.

Anyway for anyone that 's interested I managed to work out the friction and braking offsets for p3dv4.1. For those that have experience with changing the sim1.dll in order to get custom braking and friction settings here are the offset locations. **REMEMBER to backup your Sim1.dll**

I use hex editor free edition. When I look look for wheel friction offsets I right click on the offsets and set to display as float and set to show 8 columns.

Wheel friction (concrete)   offset 001495c0

Wheel friction (asphalt)     offset 00149640

Wheel friction (bituminus) offset 001497e0

wheel friction (tarmac)      offset 001498a0

For braking friction I set to 4 columns

Braking fiction (concrete)      offset 0014a880

Braking friction (asphalt)       offset 0014a8c0

Braking friction (bituminus)   offset 0014a990

Braking friction (tarmac)       offset 0014a9f0

Note this does change the friction for all aircraft
