March 23, 200521 yr Not quite related, but the new Sony PlayStation Portable comes out on Thursday. It's $250.00 and supposedly quite revolutionary. I do like the looks of the game, GranTurismo; and hopefully, some flight simulation type games will also be available soon for this piece of hand-held hardware. This small machine can play movies and do other neat things. Have any of you been following this or do any of you have interest in this PSP concept? The reviews on this in Japan have been quite extraordinary, and from what I hear, this new Sony is going to be a real hit. I sure hope it has some impact on our wonderful hobby of Flight Simulation.
March 23, 200521 yr Call me non-believer but I have a hard time believing that a $250 hardware box could either run Flight Simulation very well or that it be visually appealing. We pay more for a single video card than this whole thing is worth. Remember this is geared for kids and their standards, expectations are diferent.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
March 23, 200521 yr Looking forward to it, not for flight sim stuff but just because I am a gadget freak. Ever since I gave up the Palm I've been bored when I travel, so hopefully this will keep me occupied. I think it will. :)
March 23, 200521 yr Looks like it'll be a very nice portable gaming device but don't hold your breath waiting for a good flight-SIMULATION for it. I've owned lots of console systems over the years and while there've been some good games that involved flying (the Ace Combat games and so forth) theres never been anything even remotely close to the sort of sim depth found in PC sims like FS9 and IL2. In fact, there's never been a console sim as deep as Falcon3.0 (not to mention 4.0). I'm an old-school videogame fan though so there's likely to be lots of good games I'd enjoy on it. But not flight sims :)
