Using the mouse to pan in VC

Featured Replies

Several people in the forum have mentioned that they use the mouse to pan in VC. I'd like to enable that feature, too. How do you enable the mouse to control panning in VC? Many thanks

Yes, mouse panning requires a third party app like Flight1's free one or the payware Active Camera...

Hi Cindy,You don't need third party software to enable panning with the mouse. All you need to do is download and install Microsioft's Intlellipoint drivers version 5.5. This enables you to assign key presses to the mouse button. What you need do is within the sim change the key assignment for the spacebar to shift or ctrl + some other key and then using the intellipoint software assign those key presses (twice over) to the mouse wheel button. Doing this you will be able to pan holding down the mouse wheel button.Hope this helps,Adam Mills.

1. You can indeed use spacebar to pan around and zoom with the mouse. However, you need to hold down the spacebar all the time, so you need both hands to do this.2. You can also press Shift-O (the letter O): this will toggle mouse view. You have to press it again in order to do anything else with the mouse.3. Installing Intellipoint 5.5 will make things easier. You can use the driversoftware to assign Shift-O to the middle mouse button. Now you can switch between mouse look and normal mouse behaviour with just a single click. This is (up to now) the easiest method to get things done (imho): you can do everything with just one hand on the mouse. (You do not need to assign the assignement for space to anything else in the sim, unless you want to be able to pan and zoom while holding the middle mouse button al the time!)4. Active Camera doesn't work in FS X and never will.BTW Funny how people respond to a post from long, long ago as if it was yesterday... ;)

P.S. Assigning the spacebar to the middle mouse button, like mention above, makes it almost impossible to zoom, so... I'm happy with Shift-O assigned to the clickwheel: works great.
