Open Source G1000 panel for FSX

Featured Replies

I've started a git hub project for an open source G1000 panel for FSX

https://github.com/Voltron369/panel.G1000IFR

Features

  • Current Track Indicator on the HSI (Magenta Diamond)
  • MFD map is North up

To install, download the zip file here: https://github.com/Voltron369/panel.G1000IFR/archive/master.zip

copy the g1000 and fs9gps directories to an aircraft panel folder, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\C172\panel.G1000

These will override (but not overwrite) the FSX default G1000 for that aircraft

To uninstall, delete the g1000 and fs9gps directories from that aircraft

Please feel free to add code to this project. Let's make a great G1000 together!

Nice but is it actually OK these days to take code from FSX, upload it to github and put a GPL license on it?

MS never cared much about XML gauge 'copyrights'. They wouldn't have released an SDK otherwise...

I agree.  I've always considered the gauges in default FSX aircraft to be working samples of the SDK.
