January 11, 20188 yr Win 7 P3DV4. When I try to install autostarx I get the following error. Missing MSVBM50.dll. Any ideas where I get this and where to install and does it have to be registered? After I clear the error win 7 asks if the program installed properly? Thanks Jim CYWG
January 11, 20188 yr Commercial Member Visual Basic 5.0. Haven't seen that one in a while, must have been around 1998. No idea if this runtime will even work on Win7. Are you sure that a program that old will even work with P3D? What is it supposed to do? Edit: never mind, found info about that autostarx. So it is a 20 year old VB program that creates a simulator .dat file that hasn't changed for 20 years either. Funny stuff that. https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/187621/msvbvm50-dll-missing-from-building-applications-with-outlook-98 Check the "Resolution" there is a link to the MS help site that has the download (link doesn't seem to work directly). Best regards While it's true that autostarx is an old program, it does work in P3D under both Win 7 and Win 10; I've been using it for years. It doesn't have to run with the simulator at all. It simply and elegantly produces a customizable star.dat file - one that can show the current positions of planets accurately and that allows the user to adjust how many stars are visible based on their magnitude. It also provides very accurate positions (and colors!) for all of the stars based on existing astronomical catalogs. This new star.dat file is a vast improvement over the default....but then, I'm a space nerd. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual

Wayne, 2 questions since your the expert in stars :) 1.Do you notice an FPS impact using a more detailed stars file ? 2. how do you control the stars colors ? the stars iam getting are very colorful. Thank you ! MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28

Thank you ! Roi: 1) I've never noticed any hit on frames from this, but I do limit the number of visible stars for the sake of realism...only stars of magnitude 5-6 or brighter are visible (the program allows a much larger range of brightness and thus, many more stars that are visible, but that's not what we typically see while in flight. 2) Check out page 17 of the manual (the .doc file in the zip archive) and look for the description of the color strength setting, which is adjustable.
