Magnificent Sun Flight !!

Recommended Posts

The sun can be a nemesis, but at other times it leaves you in awe!  When it penetrates you, like it does to the aircraft in the first photo, it can render you with the worst headache. But when it combines with other elements like clouds, sunrises, and in today's case, a sunset, it takes your breath away.

These are from a flight this afternoon from historic Willow Run airport (KYIP) near Detroit, Michigan, to Spirit airport (KSUS), just west of St Louis, Missouri.  The to and from photos of the sun are from stages of a hold over IAF CHADD intersection on the 26L approach to Spirit.

Most amazing was the timing of touchdown to final sunset.

The final shot, during taxi, is the Orbx world airports version of KSUS.

NOTE: These have not been edited other than to group resize and save as .jpeg.

As Richard (WebMaximus) said earlier today, "Some days this hobby is truly beautiful".  So true!  It's one of the three top reasons I fly a sim. And I favor weather and the sun.  Clear cloudless mid-days are not my cup of tea....
