January 25, 20188 yr What instances are there of airports in same country having different ICAO first letter? For one Alaska and Hawaii come to mind where code starts with P than K. Any particular reason for this, were they afraid of running out of codes?
January 25, 20188 yr "P" codes indicate the Pacific, "K" codes are the continental US, Some codes like "TJSJ" are ambiguous since Puerto Rico is a US protectorate in the Carribean.Basically, the codes have regional meaning as well as national meaning. US domestic flights are more likely to use ATA codes than ICAO codes - look at your luggage tags here in the US when you fly city to city. DJ
January 25, 20188 yr ICAO codes would be what you find in flight plans and ATC stuff. IATA codes would be what the passengers are looking at on luggage tags, airline websites, and what not. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
