LatinVFR KMIA 4.1 REL Lights

Featured Replies

After installing KMIA 4.1 I noticed that the Runway Entrance Lights for RWY9 were above the runway surface.  Each yellow light seems to move up and down a couple of feet.  This looks like something out of "Whac-a-Mole"   This also happened at a couple of other runway intersections.  I've had no other problems with the scenery other than the REL problem.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling which did not make any difference.  I never did find the 4.1 uninstaller.  I went back and looked at my FSX version and what it appears LatinVFR has done is made the lights blink by moving them up and down.

I'm normally able to figure these things out but thought I might check here for some ideas.

This is normal and is a technique used by many developers.  This is a rough simulation of what a wig-wag type of lighting looks like and it works great until you get up close.  Were the light objects placed in the ground plane you would only see the effect when on top of them.

In my version 3, it worked like it should, but for some reason in 4.1 the lights blooms are completely above the runway.  What I do not know is if this is a problem on my setup or a problem that everyone is experiencing.  By choosing RWY9, the scenery will place the aircraft just short of the REL and give a good look at them.

I just used the KMIA scenery yesterday for the AAL B77W flight to SGBR and noticed the runway incursion lights floating above the surface. I don't consider it a problem, but it is only the runway incursion lights -- all other lighting is as expected but of course the taxi and runway lights are above the surface.  Like I said, I think they are higher than the centerline lights because the developer needed some spread between the wig and wag lights to create the effect.

It's the first time I've every seen this problem and I've been doing this for a while.  Hopefully LatinVFR will fix it in a subsequent update.

Just got an email back from LatinVFR support and they indicated the bouncing lights would be addressed in the next update.
