Textures blinking

Featured Replies

Dear colleagues, help! I have long wanted to write about this. In some scenarios, when landing after a long flight (4+ hours), a foolish flashing of textures begins. As if the lower texture slips. On this video, it is perfectly visible (see from the 5th minute)

BUT!! If  taking off from the same port (!) - then NOTHING flashes, everything is clear, as conceived. Here is video of the same port, but with takeoff (see from 30:50)

Tried it on other crafts, and only in an external camera - the result is always the same - the texture does not flashing at take-off! But they blinking when landing, BUT only after a long flight!

The same situation with the Rio port (SBGR) from Taxi2Gate and with Singapore (WSSS) from Imgesim and with some others, I do not remember. Help me, pliz.

Usually I would say this is either a bgl conflict with an exclusion not working properly or a height problem at the airport. But then it would appear all the time. What happens if you save the flight 5 minutes before landing, exit FS and load the flight ?

Thank you for replay, Sascha. I did it. Without saving, but just after landing i turn Sim off and run it again at same airport, same aircraft, same runway. Rezult - no blinking...

Hm. What setting are your textures on in hardware settings? Massive?

I did not understand your question. Do you mean my PC specs?

Here -

He meant what are your display settings? In FS9, when it is running, click on ALT, then "options", then "settings", then "display" etc etc

Something similar to this happens occasionally when if I have ran FS9  several times between a reboot.   If I reboot before a flight  I don't seem to have any quirky issues start showing up later.

Slava, try setting the global max texture size to the value below massive, this will set the Texture max load in your config. It defines the max size for textures which FS9 displays (256 x256, 512 x 512, 1024 x 1024). It is controlled by the global max texture size slider in the hardware settings in the sim with 1024 x 1024 corresponding to the "massive" setting. If this is indeed a memory problem it might be mitigated by a lower texture resolution. Downside is that airport and aircraft addons using hires textures will be less crisp.

Sascha, good idea! I will try your suggestions about "value below massive" next time flying. Also Steve0616 gave good advise about rebooting before long flight. Will try asap. Thank you much, friends!
