High performance fighter

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm looking for a quality high perfomance fighter, payware or freeware. The reason for this is that I saw an F16 display at an airshow last sunday, and I wanne do the same :-cool. One spectacular thing was this: With the afterburner the F16 thrust overpowers the weight of the plane. It came low and slow over the runway, and at the end of the runway it pitched up to some 60 deg. without starting to climb (how on earth do they do that?). Looked like it almost stopped, and then suddenly it climbed like a rocket at an unbelievable speed.Specs except for the performance and the obvious good FDE:Type: F16, F18, F22 or similarVisuals: Good model for replay and screenshotsCockpit: And this is important, I can't stand slow VC gauges, it has to equal modern design like Christan Eagle, Cloud9 MB339, Dreeamfleet Beeches, Realair etc. So the Alphasim F22, Aerialfoundry F18 and Kirk Olsson's F16 is out of the question (no offence, I'm just annoyingly picky about this).Any suggestions would be highly apprecieted!Eagle

Its slim pickings and you eliminated some of the best. What you are looking for does not exist and if you find it let me know. The alphasim f22 is probably the most powerful and exciting to fly. However it has very basic avionics but is a blast to fly. The AF F-18 is one of the best overall just add your own sounds.Recent post at Alphasim say that a third party will be releasing a f-18 through them and it looks to be one of the most complex fighters ever released for fs2004.I own em all so if there is a particular fighter you want an opinion on let me know.

Thanks Jimjam, I think you led me in the right direction :)I agree that the AF F18 is a good one, so I modified the panel (took out vc window 3,4,5,6,8 and doubled the resolition on the rest), found a soundset, and that's it!The Alphasim coWork is described in the post above yours ...Have fun!Eagle

Well,Kirk Olsen F-16 package, one of the nicest freeware fighters available. Just do a search using his name. You will also find a great Mirage F1CT out by Kirk also. Also, there was a great crusader package released yesterday here at avsim. Do a search for crusader.zip. Some great freeware packages!Harry

The best fighter jet for FSIM IMO. Daisuke Yamamoto F18 Hornethttp://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/f18.htmdownload the exe file from that site and dbl click and you are all set. (no copy shopy folders and files..blah blah blah) In FS9, go to Boeing. It would be listed under there.Try flying it at "Dusk". Its spectacular.Fly fast and low over the runway and then pull up... you will see the water condensation just above the front side of the wing.Do replay... IF you have Active Camera even better. Depending on where your camera is located..you will see the firey glow of the water condensaction against the sunset.Maybe even play the Top Gun "Danger Zone" while you are at it..even better. LOL :)IF I am able to use Fraps without FPS loss, I would have made a movie for you.MannyPS: One more thig..search for "airport_lighting_v2.zip" in the download section of AVSIM. It would make the after burner lights sparkle... and it would also make all your runway lights look good too.
