May 19, 200620 yr I have the PMDG B744 and LDS B736 which both have excellent VC's. I'm wondering how the NG VC stacks up against either or both of these, both in terms of visual look and functionality. Thanks- Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
May 19, 200620 yr The 600/700 are non-clickable. The 800/900 are clickable. I am an exclusive VC flyer when it is possible and have both the LDS 767 and PMDG 747 and 737 as well as PSS Airbus and Dreamfleet/Flight 1 727. Of all those (in MY PERSONAL OPINION) the 747 and 767 are the best and I pretty much fly only those (MY PESONAL OPINION. The 727 is really good too but some panels are only available in the 2D. The 737 was originally made for FS 2002 and been adapted for FS 2004. They didn't model as much but it is still very functional in VC. I feel the pitch attitude on final is too high and it is hard to see the runway in VC. The real plane has a lower pitch attitude when configured for landing. Some switches and knobs like the Flight Director and Course Knob control both sides at the same time. Some of the stuff on the FO's side just copies what you set on the Captain's side. Another thing is when you set and ILS frequency the GS and CDI scales don't appear on the Primay Flight Dispaly until you actually start picking it up. The real plane displays those any time an ILS/LOC frequency is tuned in just like the 747. I guess that's not a VC issue though. There are a few other things but it's all small stuff. Over all it's a good simulation of the 737 and the looks are accurate. Tom Landry
May 19, 200620 yr Author Despite of being a product that's years older, it's almost as good both in terms of visual look and functionality IMO. Compared to the other planes you mentioned (I have the 767), the 737 is mainly lacking advanced VC lightings in the visual department. Funcitionality wise it would be whatever is not modeled, the IRS for example. But the VC is fully clickable. I actually feel that LVD VC is smoother. But the 737 is not bad at all.Over all, I think PMDG737 is the one and only excellent 737NG addon out there. If you want a NG, it's the right choice for you.Jason JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
May 20, 200620 yr >>The 600/700 are non-clickable. The 800/900 are clickable.Bear in mind that the 800/900 come with an optional model update to give the 600/700 all the VC functionality of the 800/900
May 24, 200620 yr How is this done? I have 737NG V1.3 and 800/900 v1.1 if I am looking at this right. I did see that you can use the MCP in the 600/700 but nothing else worked in VC. Tom Landry
May 24, 200620 yr Tom,I think this is what you would install. It will update the 600/700 models to include the 800/900 VCs.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
