February 19, 20188 yr Hey everyone, I'm new here on avsim.com, so go easy on me I've been a flight simmer for a long time now, but I've mostly been on the x-plane side of things. However, I recently bought P3D to see what it has to offer... namely, PMDG's amazing 777. I love the 777 as a plane IRL, and I've always wanted a good replicate of it in the sim... and nobody does the 777 better than PMDG. So far, I only have 2 addon aircraft installed, the PMDG 737 NGX, and the 777. I also went all out on addon airports... FSDT IAH, YVR, LAX, HNL, ORD as well as FlightBeam PHX, DEN, SFO. I also bought Orbx FTX Global, OpenLC North America, and Orbx Trees. I also use AS16 with ASCA for weather. I've done quite a few successful flights in the PMDG 737 NGX, a plane that I've had no problems with whatsoever. No crahses... nothing. Works like a charm However... the same can't be said for my beloved 777. I've attempted 4 flights in the 777 thus far, and 3 of them have resulated in a random "P3d.exe stopped working" message in the middle of my flight. Vancouver to Beijing... crash.... somewhere over eastern Russia... about 5 or so hours into the flight (777-300ER) San Francisco to Honolulu... Only successful flight :) Made it safely (777-200LR) Honolulu to Chicago... Crash right before descent - although I believe the reason for this crash was because I clicked on the PFD... apparently you aren't supposed to do that (777-200LR) Los Angeles to Beijing... crash... somewhere over Alaska about 4 hours into it. (777-300ER) The inexplicable crashes, for which I have no explanation, only seem to happen in the 777-300ER. I tried going into AppCrashViewer to get more information, where I found "A heap has been corrupted" shown under the Exception Code Description tab. I have no idea what that means. I need some help there. I have a very powerful CPU (i7-8700k) and GPU (GTX 1080ti)... which cost me a lot of money I was running the following addons in P3D v4.1 PMDG 777 (Obviously) Chaseplane ORBX FTX Global ORBX OpenLC North America AS16 and ASCA FSdreamteam Airport scenery as well. Here was the log from AppCrashViewer: Thank you for all your support and kindness Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH EventTime=131634868560741565 ReportType=2 Consent=1 UploadTime=131634868582007698 ReportStatus=268435456 ReportIdentifier=f41f484d-f1d4-40ac-8e9b-577797e8a8ed IntegratorReportIdentifier=d3684ddc-cb1b-48df-8a98-05e31a4bd879 Wow64Host=34404 NsAppName=Prepar3D.exe AppSessionGuid=00004214-0009-0017-5e7c-9d1805a9d301 TargetAppId=W:0000f0e3cd7a622a9f58f96eda9e904fcd8500000904!0000fe4ba4844cdbd482c25c2fa58f1644d0a18615dd!Prepar3D.exe TargetAppVer=2017//10//05:18:48:53!2d051c!Prepar3D.exe BootId=4294967295 TargetAsId=17840 UserImpactVector=808465200 Response.BucketId=ba15b0b60a046f7200d20ce03c52e24b Response.BucketTable=4 Response.LegacyBucketId=1212045406940357195 Response.type=4 Sig[0].Name=Application Name Sig[0].Value=Prepar3D.exe Sig[1].Name=Application Version Sig[1].Value=4.1.7.22841 Sig[2].Name=Application Timestamp Sig[2].Value=59d67e95 Sig[3].Name=Fault Module Name Sig[3].Value=StackHash_e0fd Sig[4].Name=Fault Module Version Sig[4].Value=10.0.16299.248 Sig[5].Name=Fault Module Timestamp Sig[5].Value=effc9126 Sig[6].Name=Exception Code Sig[6].Value=c0000374 Sig[7].Name=Exception Offset Sig[7].Value=PCH_41_FROM_ntdll+0x00000000000A09D4 DynamicSig[1].Name=OS Version DynamicSig[1].Value=10.0.16299.2.0.0.768.101 DynamicSig[2].Name=Locale ID DynamicSig[2].Value=1033 DynamicSig[22].Name=Additional Information 1 DynamicSig[22].Value=e0fd DynamicSig[23].Name=Additional Information 2 DynamicSig[23].Value=e0fd03a5399036dcef93761c0441885a DynamicSig[24].Name=Additional Information 3 DynamicSig[24].Value=b05f DynamicSig[25].Name=Additional Information 4 DynamicSig[25].Value=b05f20a5ad888853a76d7154d3299186 UI[2]=C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Prepar3D.exe UI[3]=Prepar3D exe has stopped working UI[4]=Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. February 19, 20188 yr Hi there, Might be something to do with Active Sky and the 777 weather radar. ASP4 is for P3D v4, I don't think AS16 will work properly.
February 19, 20188 yr Hello, That's a lot of investment to start with :D Mid flight crashes reminded me pop-up PFD problem? Can you check if you have it enabled in FMC options? it should be disabled by default. Ahmet Can
February 19, 20188 yr The AVSIM CTD Guide, page 37 (see link in my signature), explains a StackHash and provides some possible solutions (as found as fixes by others while searching the Internet). For me, when I lower my overclock or set it to the optimal defaults, the problem is fixed for me. There is no one solution for this crash for any game, including P3DV4. One time, another member and I were both getting the StackHash and then an ntdll.dll and then back to a StackHash. Both indicate a heap corruption for which there is no solution possible in the computer world. I would think it logical if you have high settings, a high overclock, a whole lot more action is occurring in your simulator. More resources are being used. Textures are being rendered faster than ever. Bad programming in an old program like P3D could be the cause too. Perhaps it wasn't programmed for fast and modern computer systems (and why one needs to lower settings and overclocks). Bad textures from AI could cause this too. If a texture was not developed for use in a 64-bit application or Windows 10, it will result in some type of crash and most likely a StackHash or ntdll.dll. There's a pinned topic in this forum about a StackHash crash. It is a very common crash in P3DV4. As indicated in the Guide, YOU need to investigate your particular situation as no one has the same configurations, the same add-ons, the same computer systems, the same overclocks. Page 10 of the AVSIM Guide provides suggestions for investigating the scene of YOUR crash. Crashes like this are frustrating. I just had one the other day. I was able to fix it because I remembered what I had recently done to my installation of P3DV4. On other occasions I remember trying to overclock my system and the benchmarks all said my overclock was stable but the benchmarks don't take into account one will soon be running P3DV4. Did you just install FSUIPC? The beta version of ASP4? The PMDG 777 is the most common aircraft in P3DV4 crashes. This aircraft takes up more resources than other PMDG products. The detail and eye-candy is awesome but you pay for it with it using even more resources. I know you have a powerful system but thousands of processes are occurring every minute. Just try out using the process monitor as suggested on page 18 of the guide. That's how I found an AI in MyTrafficX was causing my StackHash/Ntdll errors at the same location on every flight. When the crash occurred, I shutdown the Process Monitor and then looked at the log for the minute the crash occurred and only MyTrafficX AI were being processed. I disabled MyTrafficX and the crashes stopped. But you can diagnose this too by following the guidance on page 10 of the AVSIM CTD Guide where you would disable your scenery add-ons, fly the flight again, and see if this fixes the problem. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! I do not want you to apply the recommendations during the flight. Before the flight. You are investigating why YOUR flight simulator (not anyone else's) crashes after 4-5 hours of flight. If you rename the P3D.cfg to P3D.cfg.off before starting up P3D, it will rebuild the P3D.cfg at startup and you will have a brand new P3D.cfg. Perhaps your settings are too high. The result of this is that a new P3D.cfg will give you the default settings for P3D. Now, try the flight again with the default settings. If the sim crashes after 4-5 hours of flight, the cause was not your P3D.cfg. You can go back into the folder where your old P3D.cfg.off is located and rename it to P3D.cfg (after deleting the default one you just tried). Next step. In the same folder as where your P3D.cfg and Scenery.cfg are located, there should be a dll.xml. Rename them to dll.xml.off in both folders. Go fly. If no crash after 4-5 hours, it was a module being loaded into P3D that caused the crashes. If there was a crash, then the problem was not a module in the dll.xml. Go back in and rename the two dll.xml's from dll.xml.off to dll.xml (remove the .off). Third step: It could be the scenery you are loading that is causing the crashes. You should go into the folder where the scenery.cfg is located as shown in the CTD Guide and rename the scenery.cfg to scenery.cfg.off. If you have Lorby_Si's Addon Organizer, you need to double-click on each add-on. This will turn the text from green to red meaning the scenery has been disabled. Restart P3D and run your 4-5 hour flight. You are now using default scenery. If no crash after 4-5 hours, then it was the scenery that caused the crash. The cause of your crash is not P3D. It is high settings in P3D, your dll.xml which loads several modules, or a scenery in the scenery.cfg or add-on.xml's. One other solution. Uninstall P3D completely. Reinstall. Do not add any scenery, aircraft, or modify your p3d.cfg. (In other words, a totally default flight). If no crash, then you can begin the process of reinstalling every addon again. That's how I resolved my CTD, although it was with the PMDG 737, but I digress. I also rebooted my PC after each addon. March 6, 20188 yr Glad you got it fixed. It is about impossible and I dare say truly impossible for any PMDG aircraft to cause your crash as they do an excellent job with their installations. The only possible issue would be the fact their aircraft require additional resources because of all of the eye-candy and that could trigger the ntdll.dll error if your system is not set up properly. I got a lot of ntdll.dll errors when I overclocked by old system to 4.4GHz. Moved the overclock to 4.2GHz or the optimal defaults and no more crashes. I guess I was lucky but I have had my share of completely reinstalling FSX/P3D and reinstalling each addon. I'm sure you will be doing that too if you are not careful with your overclocking.
