Avoiding Flight Sim Burn-out

Featured Replies

Thanks just what the doctor ordered.Carlos

Good link! Was about 6 months away from sim, discovered Fs Passengers and was hooked once again. Bought AS6 and WOW!Even if burnt out, keep checking AVSIM for whats new and exciting, all it can take is a small add on and one is back on board. These is no boundaries, just D/L some ships including QM2 that are fun to play around with!

It's funny, but everytime I'm just wondering why I fly, something happens to remind me of the real pleasure I get out of it. I manage most of the time to avoid burnout by doing different things, I've now made an Excel spreadsheet to track the money my crew earn (pilot and co-pilot). I look at routes to see where I want to fly.Last night I was using RC4 for the first time, the first flight though uneventful was a real pleasure for me, with the new ATC and co-pilot abilities provided by RC. The second flight was a bit late in the evening for me (I had to be up early) so I decided to let my newly qualified CP fly for me while I went to bed, still with my wireless earphones on so I knew what was happening. It was not to be, first came an 'overspeed' warning, I hadn't been that close to the 'barber pole' but I had to go back and see why, thunderstorm that was why. Biggie too. So I had to use RC's new abilities (new to me anyway) to get past it. Then I could go to bed for a bit. I couldn't have been there more than 15 minutes when we got the descend notice. Ah well, com se com sa. Back to the pc I go for half an hour to land through yet another storm. But no go-arounds, improving my pleasure immensely. Both flight critiques on RC gave me excellent ratings so I went to bed really happy, and realised it was challenges like these that make FS what it is. Burn out? I'll know when it comes, but it ain't yet.

:-lol Do you think that's part of his PhD thesis?I think he's taking it all far too seriously. Thanks for the link. Very entertaining. IanCurrently suffering from: Job burn-out, wife burn-out, kids burn-out and now Flight Sim burn-out.

>:-lol >>Snip, snip!>>Ian>Currently suffering from: Job burn-out, wife burn-out, kids>burn-out and now Flight Sim burn-out.>>And if I'm not careful, burn-out from the back end after eating that 5 star chili.Heh heh! There are always new games coming along; just load one of them for awhile and then come back to FS after a small hiatus.:D

I'll tell you one way to not burn out. Get a second computer. It works for me I surf the webb, watch movies, play other games, etc while my trusty copilot flys the cruise part on longer flights. Takeoffs and landings never get boring for me.Regards, Carlos

Good article. He deserves the title of FS Dr. Phil. But he left out the insanity of FPS. By that I'm not just burnt out. I'm totally charcoled.
