May 24, 200620 yr Hi, I installed iFly747-400 and the new patch, and when I try to load it from the Aircraft menu I get a message that says FS in unable to load some software etc., referring to iFly747-400.gau. I can't exit from this message even clicking "ok" button and I'm forced to close the application from the task manager. I searched for this issue in the Forum and all I found is about FSSound.dll=1 setting into fs9.cfg. I tried it (I had already this setting to be honest but I checked it twice ;-)) but no way.I reinstalled the package again but the error is always there. Can someone suggest me what to do?ThanksFrancesco
May 24, 200620 yr It could be that the software shipped with a guage missing. I've had similar problems installing freeware AC. After some initial confusion I looked in the panel.cfg file for the missing guage name and replaced it with something similar that did the job. It might be difficult finding one in your guage folder that matches the colour and functionality of the one that's missing, but if it's a 747 400 maybe the default 747 guage will do the job.Of course, if you paid good money for the software you are entitled to some support from the developer. But before you contact them, make a backup copy of your panel.cfg file and do some experimenting to find out which guage is missing. Just put comment delimiters ( // ) in front of each line one at a time and try and reload the AC. It's tedious but eventually you'll track it down. Then you'll be able to tell the developer which file needs to be replaced.Actually, if you're system is crashing because of the missing guage you might want to put the '// ' in front of every guage line in your panel.cfg file and then unmask each line one at a time. With any luck that will stop your system crashing.Mike. Mike Beckwith
May 24, 200620 yr Hi, did you read the following in the readme:IMPORTANT: The iFly 747-400 WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY without GDI+ on Non - WindowsXP operating systems. Our aircraft uses GDI+, Microsoft's cutting-edge graphics device Interface technology available natively only in Windows XP. Such Technology can be made available to other Windows operating systems by visiting the link below and installing GDI+ as per the instructions given. It is preferable that the user installs the redistributable in their Windows system folder, but they can also choose to place the GDI+ DLLs in their default FS2004 installation directory, if they so choose. To download GDI+ library:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enCheers Nels
May 24, 200620 yr This sounds like good advice to me, Francesco.I can't say I'm familiar with the iFly 747 400, so I'd say Nels' advice is superior.Mike. Mike Beckwith

May 24, 200620 yr Oh.Really sorry, didn't noticed that. I'm running win2000 - that should be the same kernel I think - but I'm going to give it a try immediately. Thank you very much.I'll let you know if it works.Francesco
May 24, 200620 yr I've noticed when flying this aircraft, that the ailerons and yoke "flutter" continuously. Is there a fix for this, or is it something to do with graphics settings?Ron
May 24, 200620 yr Ok, it worked fine. Thank you again! As usual, RTFM is the first lesson...Going to fly!Francesco
May 24, 200620 yr Hi Francesco, glad it got you up and running. I don't think you will be disappointed. I still can't beleive this package is freeware. I also can't beleive I missed this one first time it was posted. By the way I have bought the PMDG 747 and 747F and although I had some successful flights with them there always seemed to be something going wrong with each flight. It got to a point where I just removed them from my computer in utter frustration. Since I have installed this ifly everything for me has worked with no crashes or weird disconnects etc etc etc. I know there are many who use the PMDG without problems and are quite happy with it and for them I'm happy. It just didn't do it for me. I now have a B747 that does what I program it do with no problems on every flight. Also after the patch I am getting very good frames in the 2D cockpit. I have my framerate set at 32 and with a good selection of clouds(ASV6) and 2D cockpit they are staying in the 17-26 range and I don't have a particular fast machine. Again I hope you have as much success as I have had with this bird and I can only echo others praise for the developers of this fantastic package. Well done guys and my thanks.Cheers Nels
