About where to install FSX, I'm stuck long before I can select the location to install. Now I'm trying to copy both first two DVD on the desktop and launch setup from there, let's see if it works this way /-). UAC is off (slider full down). Thanks

FSX Gold stuck installing with Windows 7 64 bit
Thanks, but about DirectX, I have Dx11 installed, and as far as I can see through your links, they are more XP-Win7 installation problems or clean FSX installation issues than FSX-Win7 installation ones...My first problem is why it doesn'y install, then I'm going to see performance issues.

FSX Gold stuck installing with Windows 7 64 bit
Happy new year everybody. I made up a new pc for christmas since my old one with Windows XP is going to be too much old (and XP not supported anymore in a few months). This new one is a Windows 7 64bit Home edition, and I decided to migrate from FS9 to FSX (or give it a chance, at least). I bought a FSX Gold edition package and tried to install it. Unfortunately, it remains stuck at the installshield window, and I can't go further in spite of all my attempts. I searched all around internet, tried some solutions proposed (installed MS Visual 2010, MSXML 4.0, launched setup.exe as administrator, tried to set setup.exe compatibility to XP and launched it again) but no way. Is there somewhere a complete list of operations to follow in order to be sure I tried anything possible, before I resign myself to give back the package? I can't believe I'm the only one who can't fly FSX on a W7 64bit. Thanks for the help. Francesco

Yes, think so. Thanks a lot for the efforts :-)Francesco

Tip - 4:3 aspect ratio on a Widescreen display
No, it doesn't "shrink". It simply goes to that blurred resolution, full screen, and the same for a new 1399x1050 resolution.F.

Tip - 4:3 aspect ratio on a Widescreen display
Hi,my native resolution is 1680x1050. Maybe we have different Nvidia CP versions: mine is 2.1.270.000 .Alex's tip is not bad, anyway...I simply didn't think about it! It could be my last chance if I can't solve the problem :-(Francesco

Tip - 4:3 aspect ratio on a Widescreen display
Ok, I followed your instructions, but the result is not as expected. First of all, Nvidia control panel has no "move crt screen position" (it's a TFT screen actually, so it makes sense :-)), as you can see in the attachment. But I could set a new 1400x1050 custom resolution, like yours. Now, I have the new custom resolution in FS2004 hardware resolution list, but when I select it I have simply a blurred, less readable panel, just like selecting another 4:3 resolution as before (let's say 1280x1024 or 1024x768). I have no black strips or similar. What can be the reason? Maybe this monitor resizes automatically the screen so this is the reason I have not that option in Nvidia control panel?Waiting for your opinion.ThanksFrancesco

Thanks Herbert, I tried in a similar way but I couldn't obtain a good result. Now I see 3Green give me another chance and I'm going to try.RegardsFrancesco

Thank you very much RJ!I posted about this problem some days ago, and was looking for a no-design solution. Now, before I give it a try, my only concern is - should I switch between the two resolution (the native one and the custom one), or the screen quality is good with the custom resolution for the other applications as well?Just your opinion.RegardsFrancesco

FS2004, 2D panels & widescreen Monitor
Hi,I'm a newbie here and I'm looking for some help.I just installed a new Samsung 20" monitor, 1680x1050 resolution, and found - as you probably already know - that every panel is stretched, noticeably for the gauges locations that are now oval.I read some posts here about the issue, and gave a try with some solutions, but with no success, probably because each case was slightlydifferent from my situation and panel.cfg configuration. In one case, I obtained simply that my gauges disappeared, and I had to restore the original configuration from my backup. Now, I would like to have a standard operative sequence to follow in order to get a proportioned and not distorted panel with non oval gauges. For example, do I have in any case to modify my panel bitmap to my screen resolution (or in a similar proportion), or this is not always necessary?Which panel.cfg parameters I have to modify, if I should, and with which values? Will I have to open all the panels with FSPanels and move all the gauges to fit the new panel configuration or there is a magic parameter that makes the gauges proportionate in a single coommand?Excuse my dumbness and my bad english, but I hope you've get my problem and can help me.ThanksFrancesco

Added RAM not addressed by FS9?
Mike,>Forth, your GS7600 only has 256MB of video RAM therefore your video card is doing very little to help with rendering and loading large chunks of textures.

Antialiasing
Hi,Excuse the probably dumb question, but I would like to know if you have to keep nHancer (or any of its services) running while FS is running, in order to make the card settings working.Or when you set them by nhancer and then close the application they remain enabled that way?ThanksFrancesco
