May 29, 200620 yr After running FLIGHTSIM MANAGER, it is obvious to me that many of my freeware and payware a/c have missing effects and sound files. Manually checking what the FLIGHTSIM MANAGER report says to me confirms this. In the aircraft and sound CFG files, I can see references to files that do not exist in the effects and sound folders. My question is -- apart from the obvious, that is that the missing effects and sounds do not appear or happen, does this have any effect on the performance (FPS) of the a/c??Thanks barry
May 30, 200620 yr Missing effects = they just wont show upMissing sounds = they wont be played, or you may hear the Windows "ding" when they are supposed to be played...
May 30, 200620 yr Watch out however for AI aircraft with missing effects - causes stuttering as fs9 continually wastes cpu cycles searching for the effect (Filemon shows this once on my system).Creating an appropriately named effect or simply removing the call in the a/c.cfg had a drastic and immediate effect on performance.regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
