March 6, 20188 yr Hi guys, Doest anyone know which settings or values i need to play with (behind the scenes) to make the volumatric fog less bright at night ? In night (and especially full moon nights and low visibility conditions) the volumatric fog shows up very bright and white when it really should be black if no light reflected on it. Must be some shaders to play with here to reduce amount of light the vol fog is getting. Thank you ! MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28
March 6, 20188 yr Could you post a screenshot, so that we can take a look at the volumetric fog at night and compare it with ours?

This is the current foggy conditions above LKPR (only in sim nighttime). You can see how white and bright the fog is. Clouds that are not affected by the fog are dark as they should be. March 6, 20188 yr I was looking at this last week as I have the same complaint, I dont think we have the ability in PTA to alter this yet, only clouds Edited March 6, 20188 yr by kand

March 6, 20188 yr Oh yes, this looks quite ugly. Do you also see this with default shaders/textures, or do you use any specific texture or shader add-on?

I use PTA but i dont think it has anything to do with it... there must be some settings of the shaders that controls this. March 6, 20188 yr Can you try to restore default P3D shaders and see if it helps? PTA has a restoration function for that.

March 6, 20188 yr Do you use any add-on sky textures? It is known that sky textures can have an impact on the fog color.
March 6, 20188 yr Could you also give me the location and time, so that I can check? (I suppose you use Active Sky 2016 - let me know if that's not the case)

March 6, 20188 yr Author If i disable volumatric fog it will of course solve it but thats not really a solution is it... MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28
March 6, 20188 yr Do you also use sky textures by ASCA? Some of them are known to produce unrealistic colors. Can you try to restore the P3D default sky textures? I personally use ENVTEX textures (can also be used with ASCA) in combination with ENVSHADE and a tonemap night exposure key setting of 0.07 to achieve dark nights. Here is what I got:
