Strange AI Behavior

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,Strange things happening with my AI traffic recently. Tooling along in the flight levels and all of a sudden I get a flock of AI traffic- 6,8 even 10 planes appear all together at the same time. I have checked who they are and it's always a mixed bag, but with flight plans of KLAX-KDEN, KSMF-KPHX, etc. Obviously way out of position. Usually only see this south of 30N latitude and usually over Florida.I have deleted all of my AI traffic bgl's and started over (time to clean house anyway) and it's still going on. I'm starting to think a FS re-install is in order as it's been over a year but I dread doing that.Anyone heard of this or have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.Best,

Gerald

Has nothing to do with your traffic BGL's. This is a known issue with the way FS9 spawns AI traffic.

Get AISmooth. It will send those suckers around in a pettern and start organizing the airspace above you. Great little applet!

AI aircraft are generated ("initialized" is the phase FS calls it) in batches at various intervals on the edge of the active AI zone. That creates a swarm of traffic which gradually spreads out if they are in visual range.Besides deleting your traffic .BGL files, or rather, instead of deleting the traffic .BGL files - delete the scenery.dat file for the folder. That is a temporary scenery cache file. FS is very good about adding to that file, and not very good about cleaning out old data. Do not delete any other .DAT files except scenery.dat.
