1080ti recommendations/experience?

Featured Replies

Hi all-

My TitanBlack after many years of good service is now...out of service :>( Off to VC heaven I guess, or wherever they go.

I'm looking for a replacement and have done a cursory search of the 1080ti. Those that are available are pretty expensive. My Titan was less and could handle pretty much everything I could throw at it.

Anyway, if you have any suggestions or experiences you'd like to share regarding your card, please do.

Thanks!

I have an EVGA 1090ti and have had no issues. Of all the cards I've had I have found that EVGA has been the most consistent in quality.

I just purchased an EVGA 1080ti Black Edition directly from the manufacturer for $899.  I did an auto-notification with them back in January and got an email last week indicating they were back in stock so I quickly scooped one up and posted in this forum.  I also did auto-notify for few different ones at newegg, but none of those worked out.

I have a 3770K running a 4K 30Hz monitor which I will be replacing with an entirely new build soon - the 1080ti was holding me up.  After installing the 1080ti in my system, I was able to crank up the AA a bit and noticed no performance degradation in clouds.  Not much of a difference otherwise, though.  I am usually able to hold 30 fps in most places unless the weather is bad (1080ti helps with that), or at the big airports (JFK), where it still drops below 30.  Need to pull the trigger on the 8770K setup next!

Good luck!

Thanks. Looks like these new cards have gone to display adapter video ports. I guess I'm on the hook for DisplayPort>DVI connectors as well. Ouch.

My new card has 3 DPs and one HDMI port.

I've had display issues with my EVGA model 6393. I'm pretty sure there was/is/are two separate issues that are tied to using the display port. I switched to a DVI cable, problem(s) gone.

Hey Vic-

I just ordered a 1080ti from EVGA so we'll see how that goes.

I've never had a bad product from them Mark, except a dead mobo years ago - fast and efficient RMA. The card really is a beast. Enjoy!
