  1. First year P3D is not a sponsor at some level for FSExpo and also no representation either. I think they have officially thrown in the towel on the consumer level product.
  2. Not scammers...the developer just quit left the guy running the website hanging basically. There were some work arounds in their forum for the unfinished KDTW beta that made it a pretty good option.
  3. I think it is approaching EOL for the consumer market. Part of the drop from P3D 5.x to 6.x was the lack of developer support. If a v 7.x comes out and it is an entirely new engine nothing will port over...thus fewer consumers will migrate. UNLESS it blows the competition out of the water and developers come back. I've used p3d up till recently for my cockpit. Just recently uninstalled it and am migrating over to MS for now. Their (LM / P3D) market is not us, it is the commercial so I don't think they are too concerned about simmers sticking around. It was a favor to keep the hobby alive when MS decided to quickly exit the market. I'm part of a community of simmers that have built dedicated cockpits of 737 and/or Airbus variants. Many are moving over to MS, so the comment about it being just for gamers isn't really factual its an opinion. In reality, I hope P3D can surge in popularity again. Competition is always good and helps drive the industry to (hopefully) better technology and systems.
  4. OK will try this again as I see autocorret chopped off what I was saying. Check to make sure g-sync is turned off in your Nvidia control panel. That was causing issues for me when trying to get my 3 projectors to play nice at 30hz
  5. If you have sync on turn it off.
  6. An no need to overspend on a ROG. Tests show there isn't a big difference between the stock and the OC 4090s.
  7. They used to have one you could request directly if you sent an e-mail. I have a Nav update for v5 and that is how I had to get it. I see they don't list that on their site anymore but might be worth a try.
  8. Thanks for the tips. I've been in IT for over 20 years so I've tried about every option already. Talked to the isp too and everything tests out OK and I have no issues downloading files that are under 1gb, and even larger from other sites. Guess I will go hit up a coffee shop or something then.
  9. I've been using p3d 2.5 for quite some time and a few weeks ago bought p3d version 3. Since then I've been fighting with downloading it from their servers. I've been only successful on the few individual downloads that are under a gig in size. The majority of the larger files I've never been able to get the md5 to match what they say it should be. I've tried different browsers, different download managers, etc. To no avail. I need some help! I've searched and tried many suggestions but I'm thinking my isp (line of sight over the air isp) just isn't good quality. Any chance a fellow sumer could get me a dvd or something? I'm at my whit''s end with this and am frustrated every day return downloading, only to wait hours and find out none of the md5s match...ugh. I should add this is the academic version...not sure that makes any difference. Thanks in advance
  10. Make sure you read up on ProATC. I use PFPX as well and by default it'll select your SID / STAR for you usually. And ProATC will want to do that as well, and it can result in some rather interesting flightplans. There's some good info on their forums over there that should help you learn the best way to go as far as PFPX / ProATC-X, and your FMC.
  11. I'd second FS Global 2010. They are the only 'authorized' one that works well with ORBX. If I weren't so heavily invested into FSGenesis back in the day I'd get FS Global 2010, but my 'galaxy membership' days gave me plenty from FSGenesis that I've made work OK with Prepar3d.
  12. I don't quite see how it could be a typo since they state that they aren't going to include it in the v2 fork because of the potential for issues.
  13. Before we go further, did Prepar3d work OK before you installed your add-ons as it looks like you've got PMDG, FSDT, and ASN for starters? If it did, then we probably need to disable them all to see if we can figure out which one is the troublemaker. So you've got several add-on's that are trying to startup there. I'd suggest 'disabling' them and trying Prepar3d with no add-on's to see if it'll fire up for you. In the dll.xml change the <Disabled>False</Disabled> line to <Disabled>True</Disabled> for the following: Addon Manager, PMDG HUD Interface, FSUIPC, and as_connect. Do the same in the exe.xml for the following: Couatl, as_btstrp_config_manager, and EZdok. Try Prepar3d again running as administrator to see if it works. If it does, then it is a process of elimination by re-enabling each add-on one by one, trying Prepar3d, and seeing if it works. If it still doesn't work after disabling these add-on's then we may need to look in another direction, but usually startup issues are tied to something in one of these. I'd start by enabling them one by one based on their complexity, so for example , re-enable FSUIPC, then try Prepar3d. If it works, then do the Addon Manager, etc...
  14. I'd check the dll.xml and exe.xml file to see what if any additional programs are trying to load. If you aren't sure where these are do a search, as I'm not at my home computer now to check (I think the appdata folder). Also, are you running Prepar3d.exe as an administrator? If not, right click on your shortcut and select 'Run As Administrator' and see if that fixes the issue. It's a few places to start with troubleshooting. Report back and we can go from there.
  15. What if any addons do you have installed? What OS?
  16. I think a lot of this is still putting the cart before the horse. It all depends on how they apply the 64Bit structure. As a former programmer there are a lot of methods that could be applied, and yes, while it would / could affect some 3rd party applications, it wouldn't for all of them, and there are methods to provide backward compatibility and still take advantage of the benefits that come with 64Bit. Their current methodology makes perfect sense however. Squeeze all you can from the 32bit structure first, then move to 64Bit. It improves your base for the switchover and ensures that you have the most efficient 32Bit setup. It provides some assurances that they have optimized coding going into the development of the new system.
  17. Perfect. I hadn't thought of that!
  18. The wilco crj isn't that bad as long as you understand it's limitations however aerosodt will have a crj soon. Otherwise yes, the erj and ejects from feel there are very nice With lots of liveries to Choose from.
  19. Is there a way to setup one of the keys as a shortcut to the overhead view similar to how you can for 2d panels? I've been hunting and can't find out how. TIA!
  20. Is the 2011-v3 structure on these newer X99 boards the way of the future? I'm considering the same thing for this summer, and the cost difference between the older DDR3 and the newer DDR4 memory isn't that much, nor is the price difference between the 5820 and the 4790. I guess part of my thought is if they move Prepar3d to 64Bit structure sometime this year, which way will be better to move towards? A newer chipset and a CPU with more cores, or a proven powerhouse on a more mature chipset?
  21. You will love it. It adds a very realistic component to FS. I wouldn't fly without it anymore, offline or online. And since you have REX 4, it will make the sky pop, especially when there are multiple levels of clouds.
  22. Offline mode is just that, offline. You can download something historically, but it is a 'snapshot' of weather at that time. I don't believe you can have it download a span of times and update as you fly. As such, I'm not sure you will see any advantage, as the perks of ASN are that it depicts active weather. You'd only gain the ability to finely tune a snapshot scenario (winds at certain levels, clouds, etc..) but it would be static. Just my 2 cents.
  23. Ugh. Threads like this make me sick to my stomach. Jumped the boat into Prepar3d this past month. Waited for 2.5 to come out. UTX didn't have anything for Prepar3d and wasn't sure they would with the whole EULA thing..blah blah. So I went with ORBX Global and Vector with a SceneryTech LC and FSGenesis Mesh (from my FSX days back several years). I think it looks OK, but it seems there is always something new around the corner with this stuff. Looked for a nice CRJ, Wilco's was all that was out, and now I see Aerosoft is releasing one soon. I just just quit trying! LOL. Regardless I have ORBX Global + Vector + Scenerytech LC + FSGenesis 2.0 Mesh. And so far I am happy. I get a nice steady 25fps in my system in the areas I fly so I won't complain.
  24. Do you guys use ASN? For me I've noticed when this has happened the asn file (im not at my pc now to tell you the name) but it's the add-on driver that runs from the as_srv folder in prepar3d. I will notice that is still running in the task manager. If I force close that, then the hung instance of Prepar3d will close itself out.
