April 8, 201511 yr I have some ORBX regions which have mesh included. I also have some Mega scenery Earth photo scenery and UTX Europe. So I'm looking for some good mesh for use in areas outside my Orbx regions that will work fine with UTX and MSE. What options are there ? I'm aware of FSGenesis mesh but I did have some issues in FS9 with it not working well with UTX. I want a product that can be installed in both FSX, FSX-SE and P3DV2.
April 8, 201511 yr I'd second FS Global 2010. They are the only 'authorized' one that works well with ORBX. If I weren't so heavily invested into FSGenesis back in the day I'd get FS Global 2010, but my 'galaxy membership' days gave me plenty from FSGenesis that I've made work OK with Prepar3d. April 8, 201511 yr Well, if you wait 2-3 weeks, FreeMeshX (WIP title) will be launching with over 40 GB of LOD10 global coverage, which is higher resolution that the LOD9 in FS Global 2010 provides (although FS Global 2010 does have some very high-res local meshes of certain mountains). I can tell you it works great with Orbx, and I don't need authorization to tell you that. I have a little preview album for you with OrbX textures. http://imgur.com/a/XJtBU#0 I just need to finish off northern Russia, prepare the website, and it'll be freely available to everyone. April 8, 201511 yr I have some ORBX regions which have mesh included. I also have some Mega scenery Earth photo scenery and UTX Europe. As I only fly in Europe I have the FSGenesis NextMap Europe package installed which is 19m LOD 11 Works well FreeMeshX (WIP title) will be launching with over 40 GB of LOD10 global coverage, I will certainly keep an eye on this, looks great.

Does it work with P3D? what about vas usage? Can you say something about that?
April 8, 201511 yr FS Global Extreme. That is an expensive option, not really sure what the difference is between FS Global 2010 and Extreme. For one thing if Extreme has been adjusted so all airports are not on plateaus it may be worth the extra cost but I am not sure if it is. Mark CYYZ
April 8, 201511 yr Does it work with P3D? what about vas usage? Can you say something about that? I'm pretty sure P3D can use terrain mesh .bgl's compiled under the FSX SDK with no problem. I wouldn't worry about VAS usage. LOD10 is the resolution for the stock terrain in the United States provided with FSX. I'll just be providing that LOD standard for the rest of the world, so if you can operate fine in the United States, you should be all right. Daniel Moser
April 8, 201511 yr FSGlobal 2010 - downloadable version - will eliminate airport elevation problems at almost all airports. I have the FSGlobal Ultimate series, and it takes a while to install, but it's a fabulous mesh for the entire planet. If you don't use a SSD though, be prepared to take the day to install and defrag properly.
April 8, 201511 yr Well, if you wait 2-3 weeks, FreeMeshX (WIP title) will be launching I remember you posting about this on 'the site that shall not be mentioned' I thought it wasn't gonna happen to be honest. Really great news to hear that it's still alive. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter

Honestly, it's a just a case of getting the website together! My goal is get it out before the end of April. I'm being low-key about it until then. Daniel Moser
April 8, 201511 yr Author FS Global 2010. If you refer to this product http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=1168 It does not mention FSX-SE or P3D 25 Gb is much space. I see it covers the whole world. Would it be possible to install only the parts you want ? It says 'Greenland, Iceland and Scandinavia in LOD 9 (76m; standard SRTM resolution)' which I find is a little bit low resolution. It seem FSGenesis has an advantage here with 19 m. FS Global Extreme. I suppose these products is what you have in mind http://www.fly2pilots.com/Cms/Ui/Pages/Products/MainPage.aspx?id=9788913f-483d-48c5-bdfd-67c6fa3ee1db Is this better in some way compared to other suggested product FS Global 2010 ? I see here you can buy part of the world. But it does not seem to be much cheaper then FS Global 2010. Then I think it needs to be better. I can tell you it works great with Orbx, and I don't need authorization to tell you that. Waiting 2-3 weeks wouldn't be a problem. But 40 Gb would. Could select the part of the world we want to be installed ? Can you tell me it will work fine in MSE and UTX ? That is an expensive option, not really sure what the difference is between FS Global 2010 and Extreme. I'm also interested in that difference.

I've divided up the mesh into 10 deg x 10 deg tiles, and organized them into their own continental region, so nobody has to download all of it at once. Should work fine with UTX as it is just vector data. What's MSE? Daniel Moser
