May 10, 20188 yr I've been using P3D v4.2 normally in the last few days, occasionally only a crash here and there on GSX when trying to customize some parking locations, but other than that nothing that I can notice really. Today I went to Event Viewer in order to check what it would have caught and surprisingly I noticed several P3D errors, apparently one for each time I closed the simulator: Event ID 1000 ***API.DLL*** Again, the simulator always seemed to close normally, as well as AS4 and ChasePlane (which both I close afterwards). Anyone knows what's going on here? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Wanthuyr Filho Instagram: AeroTacto
May 10, 20188 yr I would guess there is an issue with the 5.0 GHz OC (BTW, you have an excellent system). I looked at my AppCrashView program after seeing your post and I had five API.dll crashes, two on March 31, one on April1, and two on April 3d. Since then, nothing. I know for a fact I did not get a CTD and they might have occurred on shutdown but I have my shutdown set to pause on exit to help avoid these errors. I will have to do some research to see what was installed on those days. In any case, seems to be fixed as no more API errors for over a month (I had some other non-API errors but know what caused them). I am thinking an installation of a program did not go properly and there might have been a corrupted addon.xml. The API error usually occurs when something did not go wrong with an installation or you are close to running out of memory (which would be near impossible with P3DV4). In any case, the errors have seemed to fix themselves as they are gone now. I would not worry about them unless they affect game play. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 11, 20188 yr Author I will make some researches, but sincerely I think the OC is stable for a long time now. Later on I managed to overclock the cache (seemed to have found an stable number as well) and more recently I've been battling with the 1080TI overclock (both GPU and memory), which is giving much more of a trouble, but only when the room is worm. These errors are pretty new to my rig, that's mainly why I think it doesn't relate to the OC, but it might well relate to something I've installed, and I've been installing many things lately, lot's of sceneries and also updating things I already had to their latest version. Oddly right now I installed yet another scenery, tested it and closed the simulator, no error pointed out in the Event Viewer. I will keep watching... Thanks again! May 12, 20188 yr According to my Add/Remove programs and Windows Updates, nothing was installed in the time surrounding my P3DV4 API.dll errors. However, I have some Carenado aircraft and had problems with Synthetic Vision System working as the directions for installing that software is beyond confusing. So it was already installed but I probably reinstalled it or did some configurations to get it to work properly. Do know it took me at least 2 days to hunt down the problem and fix it. Many others had problems with it too. As I recall the G1000 had a Terr Err msg and the SVS did not work. An API error usually indicates something is not working properly in the sim. I mentioned an OC error as that has caused API errors for some and, when I searched the Internet for possible fixes for the API error for the AVSIM CTD Guide, that was one of the solutions. June 2, 20188 yr Author Alright, I went to vacations in the meantime, travelled and thus stopped flying for a while, this week I returned and got back to my beloved P3D, updated quite a few things, not to mention the Win10 updates (it's impressive how many things change in only 2 weeks) and...never noticed that error anymore! 🙂 Edited June 2, 20188 yr by Wanthuyr Filho Best regards, Wanthuyr Filho Instagram: AeroTacto
