SSD Drive and Performance

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I was wondering how much performance will a SSD Drive make as far as running FSX-SE?. I was thinking about getting an Samsung 970 EVO 250GB. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Only on loading the flight, Scenery, Traffic, but has no affect on performance in the sim that`s down to your CPU and GPU, when in flight the cache is loaded in memory and not draw direct from Drive. That`s why faster memory can give a slight performance gain.

Yep,  My old Western Digital 7200 rpm drive that I used for data storage, games, and sims started to fail.  I moved my data storage to an external drive and switched to a Samsung 850EVO for games and sims.  Access time, read and write times are much faster.  This did not give me any improvement in fps or image quality, but it greatly reduced lagging when scenery was being loaded during a flight.
