June 12, 20187 yr Been away for a couple of years since my 2012 Hp Elite Desktop (Windows 7) stopped working. I'm ready to start flying again! Just wondering: Will I be able to reinstall all my software unto the new rig? I have thousand of dollars in software (everything from Radar Contact to all PMDG etc.) most of it I have saved on an external drive as .exe files. Will PMDG etc. give me any trouble if I need new license keys etc.? Also, Should I upgrade to the steam edition? I was running standard FSX with acceleration previously. Good to be back : )

For instance, it added the highmemfix=1 in the fsx.cfg whereas in the boxed version you have to manually add it. Recommend you check out the AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide for information on configuring FSX (boxed or SE). I still have the boxed version. FSX-SE is excellent for those who can no longer activate FSX boxed or like to go on the Internet. You should have no problems reinstalling FSX/Acceleration with a new installation. Many run into problems when they reset Windows 10 or reinstall FSX over a previous version of FSX/Acceleration. PMDG maintains your product license and download at the PMDG Store. If you run into problems with the license, simply logon to their support section and submit a trouble ticket. That mostly goes with all of the sites. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 (in Feb) and reinstalled all of my addons and had no problems but I keep a copy of all of my licenses and registration information e-mailed to me in a special folder in my e-mail program called FS Software. It has everything I ever purchased. I have also backed up all of my addons to an external 1TB drive. You have been gone for some time so may have to look for updates. Welcome back! You'll avoid any of the boxed edition's potential registration issues and it contains a number of improvements: https://fsxinsider.com/fsx-steam-edition-and-boxed-fsx-what-is-the-difference/. Force Steam to install it into a folder off the root of the drive like C:\FlightSim to prevent any problems with permissions. As an extra bonus, many people seem to see a small performance improvement with FSX:SE. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
