Update Question

Recommended Posts

Looking through the change log I see a lot of updates that don't really pertain to me (at least I don't think).  If I am looking to update for improved performance and better dynamic lighting, do I just need to install the client?  I understand that I need to upgrade the client, but am not sure If I will miss out on anything else by not installing scenery or content.  I don't want to mess with my 3rd party airports so I think I would just need to do the client but also want to see what I'd be missing if I didn't do content or scenery.  Maybe I just do client and content?

I'm pretty sure all 3rd party payware will be updated in the next few days if not sooner, if your wanting to continue to fly with your addons, just hang on until they are updated, saves you going backwards and forwards updating P3D client/scenery/contents. Do it all in one hit.

Thanks... However, I am still confused as to what each installer gives you.  I am pretty sure with 4.2 I didn't install scenery and everything seemed to work just fine and I didn't have to install any of my airports.  Is there something really neat about what is included in the scenery installer for 4.3 that I should know about?

To be honest I can't answer that as I only played about for like 10 mins, had to go to work, only just got back, erm......I just looked on the Prepar3d release notes and all that is mentioned is

Prepar3D Scenery

Fixes and Improvements

  • Fixed scenery errors causing trenches to appear along Cyprus.
  • Fixed elevation and exclusion issues at YBUD.
  • Fixed elevation issues in Guam.
  • Added American Elm and Acacia mild winter SpeedTree variations.

They did also mention installing the scenery/contents was optional, so hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to give a correct answer, sorry I couldn't be much help.

Marc -- you are correct. Those are the only changes/fixes in the scenery.msi file. Very optional IMHO.
