FSX-SE Loading

Featured Replies

Hi,

As of lately, the loading of FSX-SE is taking a considerable time longer than before. It takes a good 2 minutes to get to the selection menu screen (Free Flight, Mission aso)

I noticed, that just before it gets to the selection screen, there is a screen appearing that says something like "the page you are requesting....". The screen disappears too fast for me to read.

Here is my question: Is there a keystroke I can use to stop FSX-SE from continuing to load, so I can capture/read what it says. After I have read the screen, I would like to continue loading FSX-SE.

Thanks for help

Assuming you have Win10, the first method here:

https://www.techradar.com/how-to/how-to-record-your-pcs-screen

tells you how to record a video of your screen.

Do that, then just pause it near where the message happens and advance one frame at a time until you see it.

That's the screen I get all the time in FSXSE. I just transitioned a couple weeks ago and have been assuming that Dovetail abandoned support for the default website the sim is supposed to display in the load screen (not that Dovetail ever abandons anything at all, ever, right? 😉 )  I just click "free flight" and ignore it.

Are you saying that yours disappears? What happens after it disappears?

Hi Charles,

That page might be the cause of the excessive loading time. If the website is no longer up it might be trying to locate it but cant. This page than of course disappears and I get to the selection screen (Free Flight, Mission aso.)

Any idea which file is looking for this website/URL?

I haven't investigated much yet. It takes SE about 2 minutes to load, which is roughly on par with what it took normal FS to load, so I hadn't thought to investigate it.

To be clear, I see that screen after the music starts. It defaults to that screen, and then I click "free flight" to move away from it. It does not disappear like it does with you, so it sounds like there's something different about our installs.

The Home page that FSX:SE tries to connect to no longer exists, hence the error. There are two ways to prevent this. The first (the best) is to direct FSX to the correct page:

The second (not as good as the first) is to stop FSX defaulting to the Home page when it starts:
