I have never purchased anything on the Internet using a prepaid card but I do know that local retailers must know exactly how much you want to charge on the card.  So, if you have $20 left, you must tell the retailer to use this card for $20 and then choose another card or pay cash if the product costs more.  Prepaid cards do not tell the retailer what is left on your card when it is scanned and you usually have to call a number on the card and it will let you know exactly what is remaining.  I know this as I tried to purchase two boxes of golf balls that cost $62 and gave the clerk my $50 gift card.  The transaction would never go through and the clerk tried several times so I paid cash and then went home and did some research and this is what I had found via Google.  So, the next time I need two boxes of golf balls, I will tell the clerk to charge the card $50 and I'll pay him $12 in cash.  You'll find a lot of upset people on Google searches who hate these cards with a passion.

The only time I successfully used one of these cards was one I purchased at a Walmart so I could renew my cell service while driving from Nashville, thru Alabama, to Phoenix.  Thankfully it worked but as some mention, sometimes your address is needed for security issues.  The prepaid card worked for me at least, did its thing.  Now I have a secured debit card funded by Social Security and only use that, I even used it abroad when I went to Europe last year.  First I phoned the debit card company to alert them that they would be seeing out of the US charges and I told them how long they would see them, so they unlocked the card for me for that period then locked it to all but online foreign transactions (I have used it for Carenado, for instance).  I am happy with the service Lockheed Martin, Xplane and other flight sim vendors have shown me given the various ways I have had to pay over the years.  And so many of these add-on products are just astounding, my jaw drops.  I just learned my old fav Carenado will be introducing an EMB 120 which was my favorite puddle jumper when I was a biz systems instructor, since it usually had a pretty flight attendant to look at (lol).  I do not use Paypal for transactions, just do not prefer it, I do not like middle men.

I thought we were talking about a $50 Visa Card, a gift card you get for your birthday or for being good for two weeks.  That appears to be what the OP was talking about.   There are differences - https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/101314/what-difference-between-prepaid-credit-card-and-gift-card.asp.  I am not understanding how one cannot provide their address, e-mail, address, and telephone number when you purchase something at Lockheed, Carenado, PCAviator, PMDG, etc.  You cannot just give them a credit card number.  If you have PayPal though, you can simply tell them you are paying via PayPal and they will ask for no more information as PayPal will give them your name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number when they inform the vendor the product has been paid.
