Samsung Q900 8K you can buy/pre-order

Featured Replies

I knew this was coming and it appears Samsung has delivered a "consumer" viable 8K TV/monitor … however, before you drop you're $6,500 on a 65" 8K version (Europe only) and more $$$ on the 85" 8K US version (apparently that's the only size available for US market) … it's HDMI 2.0 (so limited to 8K 30Hz) based??  They didn't opt to use HDMI 2.1 that I thought was already ratified/certified? But on the plus side the Q900 does include some HDMI 2.1 specs such as support for Variable Refresh Rates (a must have for simmers/gamers).

So line up and start making those pre-orders 🙂

Don't toss out your 4K monitors just yet, I'd recommend waiting for the HDMI 2.1 8K monitors/TVs to come out and get the competition prices going … 2019 is going to be the year of 8K.

And before this thread turns into a "Can't tell the difference" or "cost to much" thread … just as with 4K prices starting high $5000 range a few years ago and now down to $299, 8K will very likely follow the same pattern and by 2020 they'll be in the sub $500 range.

Cheers, Rob.

Think I’ll wait for 16k

i7 6700K @ 4.6GHz, ASUS Z170-PRO GAMING, 32GB DDR4 2666MHz, 750W EVGA SuperNOVA, 512GB Samsung 960 PRO, 1TB Western Digital - Black Edition
RTX 2080Ti (MSI trio), Corsair H115i - 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler

Personally I'm holding on until we see at least 64k. I also demand that it runs on a 970 GTX

Yeah yeah yeah, I know a couple of people (one of them very familiar to many here) who already are operating 8K monitors and have even tested P3D on them ... and P3D actually ran well at 8K res with no need for AA processing.

Write this down, 2 years from now there will many threads on "which 8K monitor to buy" ... you can't stop the march of technology, it's a global presence .... as I'm reading up on Microsoft's Visual Studio Tools for AI extension: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/ai-tools-vs/ ... the AI field is growing and it's growing fast ... it's not something to be feared but embraced ... for practical applications for Flight Sims, think of GSX with vehicles that learn and stop driving thru things, FS2Crew checklist monitoring/learning, etc. etc.

Cheers, Rob.

Totally Agree. I have been playing with the AI Samples and it definitely is the future for programming. Although I'm focused on building Medical Imaging Solutions.
