Fraps Questions - Audio, Resolution, etc.

Featured Replies

Hi, I just purchased Fraps, and so far I've been able to record fairly well hardly losing any framerate, but I have some questions.1. I like to record somewhat widescreen. Fraps, puts the video at the top and leaves the black stripe at the bottom. Is there any way to center the video in the capture area?2. I'd like to edit the movie and add a narrative to it. How do you do this while still keeping the original audio track?3. I've been capturing in a window and it seems pretty good fps wise. Any comments on this method?4. What are the best codecs to use to choose for compression, and what amount of compression do you typically use? 5. I'm using Video Dub to add the compression. What tools do you use? Do I have to process the movie first, or can I just open the movie, select the compression I want, and save it?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

I have a pretty big problem with any screen capture problem, because my Dell 20.1 flat panel has a native resolution of 1600X1200 and most capture programs don't go that high.I can't dumb it down either, because it makes the graphics look awfull.I've been able to capture succesfully with Fraps and the other one (can't remmeber which), but my frames go way down doing it.For rendering programs you can use windows movie maker (should come with XP) or Sony Vegas and output it to however you like. Windows movie make sometimes can leave out a ton of your raw footage and can take several attempts to render correctly, but overall seems to work ok.Other then that, I haven't done any videos in a while, and I'm not an expert at making/editing them. One note though: If you want to capture your voice in a game with all the other background stuff going on, you'll need to throw away your USB headset if you have one and get an analog one (which is exactly what I'm going to do as soon as I can).

What I am talking about is recording a movie with sound, and then adding a voice over track afterwards, without overwriting the original soundtrack. I need to know the steps/software needed to do this. I'm sure it can be done by stripping out the audio, recording new audio, then mixing it together, but I want to do on little or no money.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)
