August 28, 200619 yr Ariane sells models of the 737 (old and NG) that you can use 2D panels with (no VC included). It's only the 737NG VCe series that has the VC only option...
August 28, 200619 yr > It's only the 737NG VCe series that has the VC only option...That's only half of the story. They also have flat, quasi 2D-panels, derived from the VC. Due to very low memory usage (just a bit more than the default Cessna) you can lightning fast switch between the VC and these 2D panels. For my taste, that sort of combines best of both worlds : Very immersive cockpit atmosphere while keeping practical usability.Michael
August 28, 200619 yr Well they sure make it difficult on their website to determine what files you need to buy. Could someone help me detemne which files i need to purchase if i am just looking for a 700 or 800 and 2d panel is my priority? thx!
August 28, 200619 yr Moderator Monsoon,Although the 700 and 800 are packaged separately by PMDG they are much more competitively priced and the support is excellent via their forum here on AvSim.Oh, and they come with excellent 2D and VC panels :-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 28, 200619 yr Ray the 2D only jets from Ariane are cheaper than the PMDG offerings. You get nothing but the visual model with this option. I actually would point the original poster to Posky if all he's looking for is a plane to use with a 2D panel. You put Posky's free birds together with Des Braban's sounds and you FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
August 28, 200619 yr Moderator Dillon,That surprises me :-eek Your suggestion sounds fine providing Monsoon can bring all the relevant bits together. Whilst the quality of Arianne's products is very good their customer support is sometimes less so according to reports.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 29, 200619 yr I am wondering how closely the systems are simulated on the ariane. I just got on flying the B737-6/7/8 and was wondering if it would be good systems wise. I am a very hardcore simmer that wat is a great addon but was wondering if the arianne was better. thx!
August 29, 200619 yr The look of the Ariane VC is the best out there for the NG. Allot of cool eye candy like the ability to hook up the APU and actually see it outside the aircraft and a tug you can actually use to push the aircraft back.PMDG beats out Ariane with the autothrottle. Once activated the AT should never allow the aircraft to overspeed. When you takeoff and turn on the autopilot (if the autothrottle switch is activated) the aircraft should accelerate to the desired speed if things are cleaned up. The Ariane model doesn't do this. The Arian model has very unrealistic AT characteristics.Feelthere's 737 Beats out Ariane when it comes to engine start. Packs need to be off to start engines. Fuel control is off as well. I can't quite put my finger on what's going on when trying to control the fuel. The Ariane model has horrible sounds and the gauge refresh rate is pretty sad. Speaking of gauges I still can't understand why VC framerates are suspect with such low gauge performance. On the flip side I still get better VC performance in the Ariane bird over the PMDG offering. The Ariane model has no wing flex. I'm starting to see the more I look at real 737NG's that the winglet version really needs wing flex no matter who decides to produce the plane in the future (PMDG or Ariane). Customer support is horrible with the acceptation of a guy named Bobbo. The package download is confusing as you have to specifically name the various files and manually put in the '.zip' extension. If you decide to get any repaints the model and panel folders for the perspective VC layout (EFIS or Normal) have to be put in their perspective folders. You have to figure this stuff out on your own as the documentation doesn't explain the glaring oversights made in the various .zip files. Ariane takes a very long time to produce updates and is not too open to listening to customer complaints. They actually have an attitude when getting back to you...I actually like the Ariane 737 VCe in general dispit it's many shortcomings. In use what really sticks out is the sounds. The package needs better sounds (my biggest complaint). None exist out there that do justice to this add-on (even Des Braban's wonderful sound set is not enough). The price of this add-on is outrageous, once PMDG upgrades their 737NG I'll never look at Ariane again. The bottom line is the Ariane 737NG VCe series is actually worth a little less that FeelThere's offering. If Ariane fixes the issues then maybe its worth would be a little more but not what the asking price is now. Another thing to remember is not to expect an update from Ariane for FSX anytime soon. They could update the bird right after FSX but I highly doubt it. August 29, 200619 yr Thanks Dillon. You just made my decesion NOT to buy this plane. I cant wait for PMDG's new one to come out. I start sim training soon on this NG pretty soon and can't wait. Just going through groundschool right now and am pretty impressed with PMDG and their 737 that they made 4 YEARS ago! I can imagine what their new one will be like.
