You know, I was going back and forth on that before hitting the send button.   🙂

Go back in time, and go back and forth on the entire post. Especially the misinterpreted bit and the bit that annoyed me and then do the right thing.

All kidding aside ...well, maybe not.

re: true latency vs speed

below is link to a aida64 score using 3600 c14 - true latency 7.7

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?99287-Help-for-RAM-overclock-(G-Skill-Trident-Z-2x16GB-Samsung-B-Die)

My 4133 c17 -true latency 8.2 is nearly 20% faster? Why is that? anyone?

Not interested, you have annoyed me.

He tasks me. He tasks me, and I shall have him. I'll chase him round the Moons of Nibia and round the Antares Maelstrom and round Perdition's flames before I give him up!

I was testing your mood today. ....I’m sorry a hundred times over.  🙂

....man, I’ve been handing out apologies at a brisk rate lately. Wallmart has them on sale at 3 for $15 ....so I won’t go broke.

To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!

Grrrrrrrr... not even with another Star Trek quote? I mean it was originally from Moby Dick, that must mean something.

Was just this morning thinking of swapping my 8700K at 5ghz for an 8086k which I could probably get at least 5.2 from. I could sell my 8700k for at least $200 to pay for the swap. Just not sure it's worth the hassle for probably not much gain in P3D4 performance which is the only thing that requires the extra power. In the q400 at KPDXsitting at the gate I'm getting 22fps with most settings pretty high and I don't think I would get much better than that with anything else.

No, that's not a good idea. The extra couple of hundred megahertz you might be able to overclock by will result in only a very small increase in frame rate. In a well balanced system it's linear. You would gain something like 5%. so 1.1 frames per second at your current 22 frames per second. Totally pointless.

I have have to revisit Moby-Dick.

Herman Melville... Moby Dick. Also used in Star Trek Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek seems to like Moby Dick... "If his chest had been a cannon he would have shot his heart upon it." Star Trek First Contact.

The real quote from Melville was... "He piled upon the whales white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down; and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his hot hearts shell upon it."

Though written darn near 200 years ago and read at the back end of a dying thread on a flightsim forum that passage is still more powerful than the latest processor from Intel and the code that runs through it.

You, sir, get two trophies!!!

-now lets drink. :-)
