KDFW!!!

Featured Replies

So, are we going to get the whole airport used this time? At least a non-hardcoded runway use so that I can have my planes come in on 18L/R, 17C/L AND 13R?Pretty Please with a HUUUUUUUUUUGE Cherry on Top? :(

bump :(

The point is, are we -- the end user -- going to have more control over runways and taxi control in FSX than we did in FS9?

At KDFW, I want to see the highway going under the taxiways...I want to see the taxiway bridges. :) Probably too much to ask. :)RhettAMD 3700+ powered by Gerbil wheel + gerbil, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 gigs Corsair TWINX, blah blah, etc. etc.

I love KDFW in fact not only would I like to see an active 13L and 13R (and 31L and 31R) with the taxiway bridges but I'd love to see a more detailed cargo ramp. I know it is great too ask and infinitely stupid becuase the final product is basically here, but perhaps this might be for any future add-on KDFW's. I work out on the UPS Ramp and I have to say even for FS9 textures it just plain blows... In Fs9 KDFW you load up in the 747 on the UPS ramp and you have no room to pushback at all which is not even close to how it works out on the real KDFW ramp. At least if it is not more detailed it needs to be modeled correctly and maybe some taxi lines instead of an improperly scaled blank plain ramp.Just an opinion,Tony N.

So beta members... screen shots? thoughts on the ATC does it work the way it should now?

ATC works great. The AI aircraft approaches and landings are the same as before except maybe spaced out a bit better. The airport in general looks a lot like FS2004.The straight in pattern looks, but I'm not yet sure, to be about 20nm out from the airport at aobut 6,000 ft AGL.Better than the 10nm out at 1,500 ft AGL in FS2004. But again this is just a rough first impression.

how about the use of the appropriate runways? 13's included?

I saw no indication anywhere that non-parallel runways were used at the same time.As before landings were on the two outer runways and takeoffs on the two inner runways - the normal practice for most times I spot out there. The 17C/35C - didn't see a single thing on it and you know it's usage varies by time of day and if the rush is takeoffs or landings.Based on a couple things we found recently buried in the code for a couple stock FS2004 airports - some of us are looking at a possible fix for using AI to land on 13R and takeoff on 13L. Though it will probably require a different AFCAD to have them land on 31R and amd take off on 31L. There also might be some hope for 17C/35C as a landing runway. If that works as we hope in FS2004, we hope the concept will be carried over onto FSX.

I'd love to read some of those posts if you can provide an URL.-Gary

Most discussions on approach work have been on the ProjectAI AFCAD and FS2004 main forums.EvolveAI, the FSGateway.com Military AI forum are the two other groups actively working on AI and approaches.I don't want to say the AI community has made most of the discoveries / advances, but we have attacked issues with runway usage, approaches and such in a pretty systematic manner.KONT - specifically working with Shez on his scenery - is where Jim Vile has found something which looks like load balancing on multiple parallel runways. The default EDDF continues to show us things we didn't realize. It's use of single ended runways with start locations on only one end has some definite promise for more control on runway usage. One other thing, and this is FSX releated, it appears that two or three parking codes in an aircraft.cfg fltsim.x section work properly in FSX - the second and third code did not work in FS2004.
