Landclass, landclass, Landclass

After taking in all the latest info on the FSX updates having to do with new textures, coasts/lakes/rivers, roads, autogen, expanded areas, etc, there is one area that has been hardly mentioned, but would make a vast difference in

Landclass was mentioned a while ago. I think Microsoft is limited by their data sources. If their data sources aren't very accurate, then the resulting landclass won't be all that accurate. But there'll be 3rd party updates."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

You can download that for free and get all of the detail in the world and make the landclass according to real satalite data.

Hello Kurt,Google is not free, and use of that source is prohibited for commercial ventures. In any case, as mentioned, it is impossible to program some sort of convertor for an image source and expect to get any accurate and usable result. It is not reasonable to expect that from the Microsoft team.On the other hand, modifying the land class is child's play - anybody can do it, and if anybody feels strongly about it, they should.Anybody who dislikes the land class should please try "Simple Instructions for Modifying Land Class" - available in the Avsim library, and they will be doing something constructive about the problem.Best regards.Luis

Google Earth is not near as detailed as FS2004 for the vast majority of the world. Some areas, yes, but others, no.Individual customization capability with Google Earth is excellent in some areas, and in others live.local.com - which Microsoft owns - is much better.Remember FS is the WHOLE WORLD - and everything has to initially be done by a batch process. If they downloaded every tile from Google Earth to update landclass - the next version would be FS2525.
