August 22, 200619 yr >Take off airport?>Landing airport?I'm sorry, in my rush, i meant airspace.>Physical user aircraft location?Makes sense to me, I'm sure there's a point on a transatlantic where you go from eighty-nine to eight-nine *shrug*>Add another layer and series of function calls / threads to the terrain >engine before each voice call?yeah, because it's devastating to my cpu to have that one more call>You will have to significantly increase the code to evaluate the >number, location and which number to play.significant increase? go ahead and speculate...>Now the way I would attack it is to have two voice pack files - and the >user select which to use at startup of FS.Not a bad idea. The program would always "think" of the flight number as "KLM Eighty-Nine" - however if the non-US voice pack was selected - the sound file played would be "Eight Nine"Works for me.
August 22, 200619 yr Author PS - I actually create two Voice Packs when I update with EditVoicePack - one NA and one ICAO phrasing - copying each to a storage folder after they finish compiling. Then use a short file copy script to place the correct one in the folder before I start an FS session. We can make a code play almost any sound file we wish - even calling the number one "Sweet Potato" if we wish.I think the real issue is that FS has only one code / process / thread to play numbers.Let me look at the default voice codes when I get home.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Okay the MS default voicepack has most of the numbers from one to one hundred. The others might be there but I haven't found them. About 15-20 missing.I can create the following entry:atc_airline=KLM 88atc_flight_number=And the ATC plays back "KLM Eighty Eight"89 is one of the numbers I have not found. If you had a favorite flight number - it could be programmed as a custom airline name which includes the flight number. But that would certainly be too much work to create a different fltsim.x section for every flight number.
August 23, 200619 yr whatever ACES do out of the box you can bet RC5 will improve on it however good it is when it starts. I did notice now you can ask for parking, gates or fuel pump now though when landing.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Have they finally updated RC so we can add the thousands of missing airlines, airports, aircraft models, and manufactures which can be done with EditVoicePack?Or are we still limited to the chosen few?
