Once the beta arrives...

Featured Replies

First thing I will probably do is take a quick tour around western Washington and see what improvements have been made in my home area. Probably use the Baron for this.I will then load up the Learjet and fly from BFI to RNO and see what has been done down there. I visit RNO often so I know the place well and its not the most popular area in the world so it will give me a good idea on the detail of the sim. Next I will start installing 3rd party planes and fly SEA-CPH in an SAS A340 and then fly CPH-BGO in another 3rd party plane. I have been to Norway a lot and in the past it was not well modeled because the data for that area is expensive. However every version of FS has shown improvements so its nice to see what has been done. I will then fly BGO to FRA and have a look at that area.In the coming days I plan to fly to China or someplace like that out of JFK and for the first time ever I will try to fly a polar flight. The FS world is round now correct? So anyone care to guess if polar flights are now possible? I guess we will find out!!!This is of coarse if the beta ever shows up. I am not all that optimistic. One it has to actually come and and #2 I have to be selected.

Sounds great! Will FSX allow polar routes now??? I'm interested in flying Chicago to Beijing, as my wife and I are in the process of adopting a baby from China, and God willing I'll be a passenger on this flight in real life in the not-to-distant future. I plan on flying the PMDG United 747-400 for this flight, as that is most likely what we'll fly for real. Perhaps a 777-200, but I hope not (I've flown on 777s before and love them, but I've never flown on a 747 before.)I assume CPH is Copenhagen, but what is BGO? Bergen? Bodo?Mark

CPH is Copenhagen and BGO is Bergen, Norway.Polar flights would be really cool. I heard flying over the pole saves something like 4 hours of flying time. Back in the day it did not happen much but its pretty common now. So having a bug that prevents polar routes is a pretty big deal now days.

Yep, flying over the pole is something that is common now that we're friends with the Russians. I remember when the airlines started doing the polar routes regularly a few years ago - it's a big fuel and time saver.I remember the first time I tried to fly to the South Pole - I couldn't figure out why in the world my plane, with a due south heading, was flying sideways suddenly - didn't know at the time that there really wasn't a pole as far as FS was concerned!!! :-) I think that was FS2000.Another day gone with no word on the beta, though I didn't expect anything on a Sunday. Let's see what tomorrow brings!Mark

I'm sure tomorrow will bring the same as today, nothing.

hmmm...the first thing I will do is load up the default 737 (great looking cockpit by the way) at LaGuardia with everything set to maxx...autogen, AI, ground vehicles, the whole shebang....I will obtain my ATC clearance and then proceed to the active runway. Once on the active, I will receive my takeoff clearance, roll down the runway and watch as my computer explodes from too much strain due to the immense graphical limitations of todays current hardware.after I rebuild my computer, I might scale things down a bit and check out the new york skyline in a helo or something :)***please note...this story is fictional and the characters and events are purely based on fiction. Any resemblance to acutal events or people is purely coincidental***

I was just replying to what that dude wrote.
