August 20, 200619 yr ...what are all of you who did sign up (and get selected) going to do first after it's up and running on your system? Got a particular part of it you'd like to test first?I'm not sure yet what I want to do first. I probably will do a few cross-countries in the 172 to warm up, maybe KDPA -> KSUE -> KMSN -> KDPA (come to think of it, that might be a nice quick round-robin in the CRJ to test the ATC system).Any other first flight ideas? Tdragger, anything you WANT us to look for (other than everything, of course...;-))Mark Mark Lam
August 20, 200619 yr I might check out the scenery in Alaska or perhaps the Grand Canyon or maybe Africa or perhaps Japan. I haven't decided yet.
August 20, 200619 yr I've been thinking about exploring Africa - I've flown there just one time that I can think of (in the sim - never been there in real life unfortunately). That flight was at night - didn't see much. :-)Needless to say, that's a continent that would be a navigational challenge to say the least with the lack of navaids in some parts, not to mention a great blend of scenery. Good idea!Mark Mark Lam
August 20, 200619 yr Oh I don't know, I'll probably fly around Boise and check out all the great new stuff.
August 20, 200619 yr Chris,Boise would be cool too - lots of good mesh not that far away. Good bush-flying opportunities not too far away! Isn't the Maule supposed to come in a bush configuration?Mark Mark Lam
August 20, 200619 yr I think a mission in Idaho was mentioned where you have to rescue mountain climbers or something. Stuff like that makes me proud to live in Idaho. :(
August 20, 200619 yr First thing I'll do is probably soil myself, and then change my adult diapers because by the time it comes out I'll be an old, old man.
August 20, 200619 yr Alex,:-lolIt'll be here soon I'm sure - I'm just as inpatient for it as you are!Mark Mark Lam
August 20, 200619 yr Chris,The missions are intriguing - the CRJ mission is just awesome as far as potential goes. Haven't done real well in the flour drop one, but this is something that will be interesting to see evolve. The inevitable will happen: there will be a whole new industry creating missions for sale.Glad you're proud to be from Idaho! Almost landed a job in Boise once, but it didn't work out. Nice scenery, though! :-) Being from Chicago, I'm pretty upset they dropped Meigs from the scenery - Mayor Daley must've gotten to the ACES offices too! :-madMark Mark Lam

I'm definitely hoping to see the WWII Monument in Washington along with the Udvar-Hazy Center in Dulles.
August 20, 200619 yr What kind of missions are you planning on creating? The more that are available for free, the better!Yep, checking out the Mall will be cool - flying the CRJ into Reagan National will be fun, especially with the new water textures for the Potomac!Mark Mark Lam

I'm going to be starting off with fun "situational" missions, but once I get some help on procedures, I'll be doing checkride style missions. I'd also be interested in offering my services to people designing complex add-on planes to do demonstration rides, illustrating how to use the aircraft. There's also some interesting thoughts on actual airline routes, and of course, I would be remiss if I didn't include the famous River Visual Approach into National. I actually only live about ten minutes from there, so I go up and watch them on final all the time.
August 21, 200619 yr Wow, thanks for directing me to that thread - I had browsed it before but hadn't read it all the way through. Lot's of great ideas! I'm looking forward to what you come up with! I'm intrigued about creating my own missions as well - I have a little (very little) programming experience and am looking forward to seeing how they go together. Perhaps I can create some of my own too.As for me - I'd love to know whether the missions can tie to ATC, and specifically, if they can tie to external programs (like Radar Contact 4). Keeping my fingers crossed...Mark Mark Lam

Then again, with the voice files and etc in the missions, we won't really need radar contact for them. I plan on recording voice-overs for all of my missions.I'm always welcoming new ideas. If this mission editor is half of what I hope for, there shouldn't be much in the way of limits to what we can do with it.
August 21, 200619 yr ...download it then, probably take a short nap. After that fly around the mid atlantic and test some ai settings. Also try to balance the other ai stuff out maybe with saved cfg settings if I am at 35000 don't need the birds and the boats, but if i want to explore a local then maybe crank those guys back up. Also look for snafusgregg
