Changing FSX aircraft callsigns

I am trying to change the aircraft call signs by editing the airplane.cfg file but it will not let me. It saying that I have not got authority. Please help.

By the power vested in me, I hereby grant you the authority to change you aircraft.cfg!😉  Welcome to the AVSIM forums!

If your Sim is installed to the default location under Program Files, then it is being protected by UAC, which protects all Program Files from being modified,  You can try right-clicking on the FSX.exe and see if you can "Run as Administrator".  Or you can also try copying the aircraft.cfg and paste it on your desktop,,,modify it and re-copy it back in place to overwrite the original.

Another thing to try is while the Sim is running, on the Aircraft Select page, Highlight the aircraft by clicking on it and then choose Details and make the change to the callsign there.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
