PMDG 737 P3d v4.4 install and stability / frame rate issues

Featured Replies

After installing P3D (4.4) and PMDG737800 base package (1.20.8465) (from PMDG account Previous Orders / downloadable product info. page) on backup PC.

MSG - PMDG DEBUG

"Warning: the PMDG product was unable to create its work files.

Please make sure that you are running Preper3D as administrator"

Administrator privileges confirmed (Win10 account identity confirmed)

Removed parental control software.

Uninstalled and reinstalled PMDG.

Uninstalled, re-downloaded and re-installed PMDG

PMDG package still unloadable within P3D.

Sim installation on back-up PC was due the following issue on primary PC:

P3D & PMDG737 running stable for 18 months.

Last week's Windows update had caused 2 issues.

1) [3rd party sim showing long load times and "The sound system could not be initialized! This could be because your sound hardware unavailable."]

  1. P3D also showing longer load times and when using PMDG aircraft there's a dramatic drop in frame rate to about 2 frames/sec.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled P3D with guidance from the following pages:

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/512291-uninstallingdeactivating-prepar3d-v3-v4/

(the only files I re-instated after the install were the saved PMDG737 scenarios in the "Prepar3D v4 Files" folder which I subsequently removed)

PMDG737 worked briefly although the visuals took much longer to appear after initial load.

After a couple of days the frame rate issue returned rendering the software unusable.

I've also temporarily reduced the main monitor frame rate to 60hz from 120hz (3440x1440 G-sync) but this has no effect.

2nd monitor is 1920x1080

Avermedia Live Gamer HD Lite Pcie card installed but never used.

TrackIR software's installed but not been used since the Windows update.

Before I venture down the Windows recovery route any advice to resolve these issues would be most appreciated.

Please communicate directly with PMDG (this is a user forum) at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

If you have not done so before, you will have to create a support account to submit support ticket.

Could be something as simple as you need to set the installer properties to run as admin, regardless of your assigned privileges; however, install problems should in general go direct to PMDG.

The error message is pretty clear, actually:

Run Prepar3D as an admin. Your first bullet point is that you confirmed that you're using an admin account. This is not the same. Running the sim with admin priviliges (or any program for that matter) requires right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Admin, or you can actually set the shortcut/command to always run the program as an admin.

Avoid uninstalling/reinstalling as a troubleshooting step, too. It can create a mess of things and is largely a waste of time (in this case, there's a reason the error message says "please make sure that you are running Prepar3D as an admin" and not "please reinstall your plane").

Cheers. All working fine now.

Just need to adjust FOV settings and I'm home and dry...
