February 16, 20197 yr New Zealand Having just arrived in Auckland (see here) I've taken on this impulsive trip to the South Island, taking in Queenstown and Milford Sound. The scenery was spectacular... Approaching Queenstown... Parked up Off to Milford Sound Unloading at Milford Sound About to head back to Auckland Away from the mountains and starting the approach into Auckland I vectored myself in quite tight for a visual (just an excuse for my sloppy flying) Taxiing in, mixing with the big boys Parked up on a random made up charter ramp (evidently somewhere near the cargo centre) This is a small selection of shots taken, see here for the full album (I'd only recommend it if you like shots of mountains and clouds) try here Edited February 16, 20197 yr by iwebber
February 17, 20197 yr Great post, enjoying the low, slow scenery is good, that's what God made the earth for, to enjoy its beauty inside and out. For me God is whoever invented these sims for us armchair pilots who love to explore the world, all its nooks and crannies. However remember, there is a lot under the sea to see too, I have been on a submarine off Hawaii, it was wonderful, and I have snorkled with flippers and no O2 tank, I just trained myself to hold my breath for a long while, then float back up to the surface like a dolphin for air. For me snorkeling is so much better than scuba, why take on all that heavy gear and deal with the bends. When I fly in an airliner I get the bends in reverse, I feel like I am inflating like a balloon, I just love it, I feel lighter than air when I fly... John Edited February 17, 20197 yr by John_Cillis
