Minor issue - hard runways not correctly identified

Featured Replies

Minor issue this. If I have hard runways only selected some rather large airports do not show as they have different types of surfaces but are still hard.

For example:

LEBB Bilbao OrbX has an OIL TREATED RUNWAY. This is counted as SOFT in LNM.

There may be other surfaces that are also not shown as hard, if I come across them I will ad them here.

FSX considers Oil Treated Runways as soft.  See http://www.simtours.net/runwaysurfaces.php.

Ah thanks for that interesting info Ernie plus the link! Was wondering if some of the magic under the hood in LNM could one day consider major commercial airports as hard surfaces as, well actually hard!

High standards encourage high expectations Alex!

Most of the sources I have found online indicate that the LEBB runways are Asphalt. The FSX default LEBB lists runway 10-28 as Asphalt and 12-30 as Concrete.

I wonder if 'Oil Treated' is how the authors interpreted 'asphalt'.

Maybe the OrbX add on changed the surface info? If it can be changed surely so can the way LNM defines the runway as hard or soft?
