August 4, 200619 yr Anyone know if Jeppesen will release charts that match FSX like they did for FS04 and FS02? (Yes, I know I can find current charts online, but I prefer the Jeppesen charts.)
August 5, 200619 yr Author If you have a pilot supply store near by you can ask for expired charts. They're free and about the same thing depending on the chart data that FSX uses Chris Miller
October 13, 200619 yr "The MSFSX will actually require the SIMCharts 4 software. As there is notcurrently an upgrade program, you may want toconsider how soon you will upgrade to the MSFSX software."This is the response I received from Jeppesen. As I plan on still using FS9 even after I receive my FSX copy then it won't matter as far as a conflict for me. It is interesting to note that so far there is no mention of a SimCharts 4 version in the works on the Jeppesen site on any other flight sim site as far I know.
October 13, 200619 yr I don't know why you get hooked on Jepp trash, no better than the free charts that the entire US military pilots use that the NOAA puts out, and the free NOAA charts can be trashed every 8 weeks verse spending hours updating Jepp trash. I fly for a living and I cannot stand Jepp trash charts, waste of my time updating them, complete waste. Never have to update NOAA charts, trash them every 8 weeks and get the new charts.
October 13, 200619 yr Since you used the word 'trash' in some form or another five times in your thread it's pretty clear that you don't like Jeppesen SimCharts. The question was intended, I assume, for a user of the software. Not for someone who obviously doesn't care for the product, and certainly not for one who doesn't know whether or not the company plans on updating it. My response still stands.
October 13, 200619 yr If memory serves me,All part 121 air carriers have to use Jepp's? For the as real as it get's croud:-)
October 13, 200619 yr Commercial Member Yes we do have to use Jepp Charts in 121 Operations. Agreed the updates can be annoying and time consumming at times, but I prefer them over the NOAA charts. It is all a matter of preference. October 13, 200619 yr Sim Charts allows the Charts to be displayed on a second monitor and the Flight sim aircraft overlay on the charts... So it becomes a moving map..Thats a pretty niffty tool to have.MAnny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
