Wide-Screens on FSX

Featured Replies

Wondering how FSX handles 16x9 (16x10) wide-screen views. FS9 was known to stretch 2D panels, etc and frame rates where also diminished in the virtual cockpit according to reports from some users. I

FS9 works just fine in widescreen. The 2D Panel at first stretches out.. but you can resize it and use the freed realestate with a radio or GPS panel and you can save it for next time.IF a pawware vendor would build specific 2D panels for widescreen, that would be an option too.Manny

This is how I fly with 2d panels in my widescreen notebook.http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9098/sbrp024hd6.jpgTry for yourself, you will see it's much better than a convencional screen..

bachian,Did you try using the full screen (2D Panels stretched out). But then..you placing your cursor to the right edge of the panel and rezing just the panel without resizing the entire FS9 window like you have done. Then, placing the GPS etc to the right side of the panel spaces.and saving the flight. So next time, you wouldn't have to do this. This way..you'll have a larger external view. Why take that away?MannyLet me try getting a screen shot. hold on.This is the default. When I start. The 2D panel is stretchedhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/153218.jpgNow, I move the cursor to the right edge of the panel and resize it..so the ovals are now roundhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/153219.jpg(THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL) Then I even move the whole panel to the left (place your cursor on the panel..somewhere in the button of the panel thats not an instrument and left mouse click hold and move)... to reclaim even more screen realestate to the righthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/153220.jpgI now, place whatever I want to the right. See the hole there.. Well.. I have room for one more gadget right there.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/153221.jpgNow, save the flight. Next time you load this flight. Everything would be in its place. There is no issue of stretching with Widescreen and FS9.

That's a very good tip Manny, I just think it's a bit strange the role over the GPS, but it's just a matter of fitting. :DI'll try it..
