Nick's tweak guide for FS9?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have this they can upload somewhere or email? The FS9 version, not FSX.

Thanks. Not sure if that's it. In the thread below appears there was some guide similar to the FSX guide for FS9. The link in the thread no longer works. 3rd post down.

Look further down the thread I posted - there is a HUGE post by nick.

I was one of the ones who posted in that thread. However, in 2013, NickN started writing a comprehensive tweak guide, known as the FSX Bible.

https://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html

The guide is written, in order, for hardware settings first, then Windows and drivers settings, then Nvidia Inspector settings, and finally FSX settings. As NickN said somewhere, all the 3 first parts are so that you can get the best of your computer for the sim. It may be based on FSX, but the same principles apply.

As soon as you get to the in-sim settings, you may switch to the guide Skywatcher mentioned you, and that JSkorna was kind to copy-paste:

Enjoy the results!

Ok, thanks very much gents, I will start fully exploring.

I've tweaked my FS over many years now. I really think I have it set near perfectly. I wanted to go over Nick's suggestions to see if there are any conclusions on anything he came up with that may not be the same as mine or if he has suggestions that I have not tried before.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where there is an official source to show how such definitive statements can be made as the one below? I've seen people make bold statements at times and I know 100% what they are suggesting is completely wrong. What is the source that allows these statements to be made???

TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4 < --- If you use FSGenesis mesh, make it 4. If not experiment with 1. This setting is either 1 or 4, nothing else
