Animated vehicles at airports

Featured Replies

Animated vehicles are now included with most airport scenery packages. Some of these vehicles have high resolution textures, and look very good in screenshots. However, I have been sat at the gate in my payware airliner of choice, and one of those high resolution 3D vehicles has wandered past in front of me.....with wheels that are locked firmly in place

I appreciate that animated wheels would add a degree of complexity to the models, but watching an otherwise good quality animated vehicle sliding around an airport with invisible wheel clamps on does not exactly improve that sense of immersion that is so important in flight simulation.

I never really noticed, but you're right, they're locked up tight....😱

As long as i'm not zoomed in too close they at least give the illusion of rolling...

I noticed one of the Flightbeam airports (I think it might have been KMSP) has fire trucks that tool around with 2 of the 4 wheels turning backward. Someone was cutting and pasting objects. 😉 I figure it'll be fixed in an update.

The animated vehicles at ORBx (EGPB Sumburgh) and FlyTampa (EKCH Copenhagen) airports are the ones that instigated the posting of this thread.

I always roll my eyes when I see the ambulance coming up because I know I'm going to have to hear the ambulance for the next hour (despite it being nowhere close to my plane).
