March 22, 20197 yr Every now and then I’ll break out an old purchase that I never really put enough time into. Currently that is the Carenado 525A Citation CJ2 with Novej757’s GTN750 mod and I’ll say I’m really enjoying this aircraft now. Novej757 GTN750 mod link i7 6700K @ 4.6GHz, ASUS Z170-PRO GAMING, 32GB DDR4 2666MHz, 750W EVGA SuperNOVA, 512GB Samsung 960 PRO, 1TB Western Digital - Black Edition RTX 2080Ti (MSI trio), Corsair H115i - 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler
March 22, 20197 yr Tough question to answer! I fly GA exclusively. I like flying with a "mission", typically involving flying somewhere with family and friends. Perfect example is flying from Portland-Troutdale (KTTD) up to Sequim (W28), Orcas Island (KORS), or Friday Harbor (KFHR) to look at retirement properties. Nice flight over beautiful country. I am a total Orbx fan-boi... 🙂 Real world weather (AS), P3DV4.4, default ATC. The aircraft that I most often default to is the Carenado B58 Baron with HawkDSL turbo mods (and Ron Attwood's great green and gold paint). It flies nice, has decent power and speed for an hour or so flight, and I can load the Wife and all four grown kids (albeit limited to 40-50-percent fuel). Sometimes I will fly friends and family to more distant locals, and for that I like the business jets. However, I really do not like default IFR ATC at all so it is a bit weird to fly VFR @ FL31! Ray's comment about Radar Contact is interesting - maybe that will provide better IFR behavior. John Howell Prepar3D V5, Windows 10 Pro, I7-9700K @ 4.6Ghz, EVGA GTX1080, 32GB Corsair Dominator 3200GHz, SanDisk Ultimate Pro 480GB SSD (OS), 2x Samsung 1TB 970 EVO M.2 (P3D), Corsair H80i V2 AIO Cooler, Fulcrum One Yoke, Samsung 34" 3440x1440 curved monitor, Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant, Thrustmaster TPR rudder pedals, Thrustmaster T1600M stick

What do most of you fly "most" of the time. Mainly big birds, or general aviation? Do you use ATC at all, you use the FSX built-in ATC or do you use live ATC (VATSIM, etc). How many of you fly as close to real life as possible and if so, what do you do to make it as so. Please indicate if you actually have a pilot's license (real one, not virtual wink-wink LOL). Myself, I am currently flying touch-n-goes in a Carenado Cessna C182 and casual flying in a Carenado DA62. I fly as close to what I think is possible. I am not a pilot. Would love to be one, but will never have the $$ for lessons or ownership. I use the FSX ATC. Never used live ATC (VATSIM, etc) for the simple fact I speed up my flights between locations... I have Wife/family agro... I can't just get up and walk away or pause when flying with live ATC. Thanks In P3DV4, I mostly fly the Carenado C550, the Carenado Shorts, and the Carenado 337 and DA62. In Xplane11 I mostly fly the Aerobask Eclipse, the Alabeo C177, and the VSkyLabs Eurofox and Gyrocopter, followed by the default S76 and the VSkyLabs mini 500. In less than a week I plan to add the VSkyLabs Icon A5 and the Columban Cri Cri for P3DV4. I choose all of these aircraft to fill the niches I enjoy, from the Microlights I have flown in real life, to light twins, tprops then civil jets, depending on the mission I want to fly and range (20-700nm). Gives hour upon hour of simming enjoyment in a still rapidly growing hobby of add-ons. My scenery is mostly photo I have either created or purchased (only purchased photo, MSE, for P3DV4) in addition to many freeware scenery add-ons for both sim packages. My main purpose for simming is Microlight Flight training and navigation training, both VFR and IFR. Although in real life I do not plan on getting an IFR ticket (Light Sport does not allow for it), I feel IFR training is a must given how conditions in Arizona can suddenly deteriorate, because we can get gust fronts and dust storms out of nowhere from T-Storms as far as 80NM away. Better to be prepared in an emergency, not only with a GPS but also with old fashioned Nav Aid training and the understanding to work with ATC in an IFR emergency. In v3 I fly FS Labs Concorde - an absolute beast of an aircraft. Mach 2, 1350mph, 23 miles a minute, cruises at FL550-600 and overtakes 747s at 750mph! 😁 Flights include JFK to Orlando in 1.5hrs and Honolulu to LAX in 2.5hrs. ATC is via Radar Contact v4. No online flying for me. I went and downloaded Radar Contact. Will give it a try.
